One of the least expensive is the IBIS chain of hotels...they are all over France. www.ibishotel.com
There is another chain called Formule1 www.accorhotels.com
You can also go to the following website
www.mappy.fr
Once you are in, click on the british flag in the upper lefthand corner, this will give you the english version...
Then fill in the boxes on the right hand side...In the one that says place write Paris, and click on France in the box below for country... then check the box that says hotels, and click on OK...this will take you to a list of about 25 hotels in Paris.
Then you also have the Guide Michelin:
www.viamichelin.com (also in several languages) you'll have to fill in about the same way as mappy.
Hotels run anywhere from abot 45 euros (Ibis & Formule1) to 200 euros for the 4 star ones..
I hope this helps you find what you are looking for...
Have a nice trip!

There are so many to choose from. It just depends on what you consider cheap . I would not recommend staying at a chain. Although they might be clean and cheap, they'll have no personality. I've been twice and stayed at 2 small hotels. Both were in what was probably at one point an apartment building or maybe a mansion. We stayed at Hotel de L'Avre (that was a while ago) and there was parking and a metro station and a Monoprix nearby. Last Fall we stayed at Grand Hotel des Gobelins. Expect the rooms to be tiny, but clean. Gobelins has several restaurants (bistros) nearby and a Metro on the corner. Very convenient. Breakfast at both was a little extra but plenty and convenient, although you could go to the bistros. Check out the reviews for both of them and/ or others and double check the rates at hotels.com...you might get a better deal. The staff was friendly at both...oh...but if you are disabled, don't go to Gobelins because you have to go up about 5 steps to the elevator!

The rates for each of these are on their websites:
1. Hotel Leveque
http://www.hotel-leveque.com
Excellent location; Rue Cler is a Pedestrian-only street that is absolutely adorable. Plus, it's conveniently located in the most popular arrondissement (district), #7. This arrondissement also contains the Eiffel Tower, Hotel des Invalides, etc. Not only do you have lots of attractions near you, but you've got two metro stops right near you. This, believe me, is always a plus!
As for the service at Leveque, they're excellent English-speakers and very friendly.
The only suggestion I have is that the breakfasts aren't worth 8 Euros. It's better to walk down Rue Cler and buy something from an authentic French vendor :)
2. Hotel Muguet-a bit more moderately priced
http://www.paris-hotel-muguet.com/
This is also in the 7th arrondisement, but it's not on Rue Cler. It's down a side street though, so it's quiet.
The breakfasts are good, the staff is excellent, and they have internet access! It's not free, but it's not expensive. I love Muguet...if you've got a somewhat large budget for hotels, stay at Muguet :)
For either of these, or any hotel, make sure you book early!! These are very popular hotels, and they fill up very quickly.

um, you're going to have a hard time finding a cheap cool hotel in paris. but cheap and clean should be fine.
I stayed at the Hotel Royal Bergere it was cheap and clean, plus the staff spoke english. it has 3 stars, but thats french 3 stars. the rooms were small but that didn't matter because i didn't go to paris to be in the room. any website where you can book online will be able to help you find a hotel.

Check out this site. http://www.eurocheapo.com
It is a totally unbiased site. They are not a booking agency, though some of the hotels allow you to book directly online. They offer advice about cheap, quaint hotels in major cities in Europe. They also offer other tourist information. And what a clever name! I love the site.

I stayed at the Hotel St. Germain in St. Germain des Pres/Latin Quarter area in November. Walking distance to subway, Latin Quarter, Pantheon, Notre Dame, etc. Very clean and neat, with friendly staff. Great breakfast was included in our rate which I booked off of their website:

Try Tripadvisor for hotel reviews and ideas:
