Someone who has dropped out of high school obviously has issues dealing with life. I wouldn't be mean to them but I would have intense pity for the person in question.

Everyone should be treated with respect and dignity. They don't teach compassion in high school education or college for that matter. The former responses were more than likely written by "educated" people. That was harsh. Not all "educated" people are thoughtless and cold. But, I've found that the majority are. For whom ever it is that you are speaking of, it is important to be educated. For the social order it is best to have degrees but that does not make the person they are. They are just as important if not more than the person who goes all the way through school. Some sit at home with their thumb up their butt because they can't find a job and they are too good to scan groceries. Anyone with the social intellect believing all drop outs are dumb need to be educated.

Because some people assume that your stupid.

I dropped out and decided to get my G.E.D one day, signed up, and when the time came I did.

I went after working a 12 /hr shift and not studying a bit. Passed all tests 90+% Which is far beyond the average high school student.

Most people assume they are of higher intellect because they posses a piece of paper, it's just a clear sign of ignorance!

Some of the smartest people where self taught.

My I.Q is 131 too, so in short school is always a good option for most people, but one shouldn't assume you to be dumb or lazy for choosing not to continue.

Many young people drop out for various reasons. My reason was family problems, many other reasons exists!

i can't believe your asking this question what do you mean how do you treat them just like you would want to be treated like a human being you don't know what that person situation was so people who are mean to people because of that needs a reality check if they were very smart they will be trying to help that person go back to school not talk about them now who is acting like the dummy the drop out or the person that graduated make you think huh good luck.

You should not treat them any differently than you would treat anyone else. They are still a person and dropping out of high school doesn't mean that they deserve to be treated poorly. There may be reasons that we don't know for them dropping out. I know a guy who's mom was sick and he thought that dropping out and working full/over time to make money (so that he could take care of her) was more important than finishing his education.

Some people like being mean to them because they feel like people who drop out are losers and are easy targets. These kinds of people are insecure and being cruel to others makes them feel better about themselves.

Are we being mean, or just telling you what you need to hear, perhaps you are living in another reality where you believe that someone, somewhere, will step in and give you every thing you need. The world don't work that way.

You are young and dumb, and you are going down a path that will lead to no where. You can save your own future now, go back to school and get your diploma.

Also to everyone that posted, this is a follow up to another question where he was asking for advice because he just dropped out of school, every one told him to get back into school.

Yes, some people have gotten successful future after they dropped out, but that is few and far between, getting your education gives you a better edge in the job market.

he made the comment on his other post he is proud of his design.

It appears he is looking for some one to rescuer his choice and tell him what he wants to hear, but us mean people are telling him what he needs to hear.

The same as anyone else and some people just suffer with an inferiority complex, just plain assholes

I always made a good living and got my GED 24 years after I quit, so big deal unless you plan to go to college, you will have to work other Job's the college people refuse to work, like a boat operator, sure you have to deckhand first, but right now a captain on a tug boat makes $400.00 a day and up and there are many other jobs like that, I mean its good to get an education, because its the paper that counts, because I know a lot of stupid people with papers, there ruining our country

Hmmm thats funny that you should mention this...

When, some of the most successful people who have dropped out of high school, have gone on to be millionaires, because of thier hard work, and perserverence.

They didnt let something like a lack of education stop them from becoming what they wanted to be. And worked thier best, to go forward to do what they accomplished.

Never look at a drop out and see a failure, just because he or she cant make it in school, (high school years are the worst ones with peer pressures and all that), they may succeed in ways that may impress you even more than you know!

I wish you well..

i dropped out of high school. Mainly because of the jerks there who treated me bad while i was there. Kind of like some of the people answering this question. however i didn't want to be held back in life so i did take a correspondence course to get my diploma. (and to those who want to argue YES you can get a diploma home schooled.)
i would never recommend dropping out to any one you just miss too much and it is not worth it. But if you know someone who has dropped out support them and urge them to continue on in some other form of education for their own benefit.

i think you should treat them normally without any differences .. If they failed just try to make them feel better by telling them they can pass in the next time, they can do better in their life, they can compensate it in the future, its their fate so they should get over it and accept it .. Its not the end of life .. they didn't fail yet bcoz they have the chance .. their real failure will be when they cant stand up again and live normally .. if they are sad its OK bcoz it deserves but this sadness must end as soon as possible and must not affect them .. i failed in the high school .. but then i passed and joined the university and graduated with 3.63 .. They can do better in the future .. Otherwise, if they were dropped out bcoz they don't want to complete their education and want to have a job then they wont be sad .. so nothing to say and treat them normally bcoz they chose the way they want and everyone should respect their wishing ..

Like you would treat them if they didn't drop out. Some people are just jerks that make in fun of others to make them feel all high and mighty, it's just disgusting and i don't like it. Especially when they don't even know the person's reason for dropping out in the first place.
