stay friends with him and do not have sex of any kind.

this will show your parents you respect them.

bring him to the house and introduce him asap to your parents.

if he wants to DUMP you because you will not have SEX with him the let it be so - he will dump you anyways if he tries to force sex on you.

Please understand that 4 years of difference is not much in later years but the difference between 18 and 22 or 23 is tremendous in life experience.

You have not mentioned anything about college (his or yours). Are there similar goals or do you just "like" him?

Your question "how do I help my parents...accept" is quite revealing. I don't suppose it occurred to you to ask "how can I accept my parents opinion". Your parents, assuming that they are loving parents, have no agenda other than seeing you have the very best.

It is so interesting that we value the opinions of our friends and families until they disagree with something that we really want to do.

This is sort of tough to have your family accept the man you like...But remember you have to date him...your family is not...Since you are over 18, I really do not see a problem with you dating him...But maybe your family thinks he does not have what it takes to be your man...Try sitting down with your folks and him to see if there is something that you and your man can change to make your parents feel good about him....I do hope this helps....

Nothing wrong with that... You're 18. I dated a guy who was 21 when I was 16. He came to house, met my mom and talked to her. He was just very polite and respectful (he always was... not just to impress) and he just told her that he really cared about me. I told her that I was happy and she said fine. I think as long as you're mature and upfront about it, it shouldn't be a big deal.

Make sure he is not after just sex. Wait a while to have it. Your parents are just worried about you because they know how guys think.
