Just tried it (Coke and milk, although much the same applies to ice cream). It's fine, it basically gives you sweeter, darker and more flavoursome milk and if you like both drinks the combination works well.

What you effectively end up with is Coke milkshake, rather than milk flavoured Coke. Coke is basically just the diluted version of a flavoured sugar syrup, much like your average milkshake syrup, and the milk soaks up the non-syrup content pretty easily.

Sure there's some water and carbon dioxide in Coke but the milk definitely wins out in terms of content, so you end up with milk that tastes of.... whatever the hell it is that Coke tastes of!

So yes, it's fine, it's often referred to as "Witch's Brew", and the two are common ingredients in white cocktails, although normally cream is used instead of milk.

Good question!

P.S. Caffeinated milk.. It could really catch on!

I think if you like Dr. Pepper floats you should make one and see if you like it. Just because someone else thinks it tastes badly, doesn't mean you will find it icky.

I would try it with Vanilla coke.

I used to watch "Laverne and Shirley" on TV, and laverne always drank milk and pepsi. it's actually an old soda fountain drink.

One day at IHOP I poured a couple of those little cream packets into my coke. It wasn;t bad. Try it sometime....
