Go to an art store like Jo Ann's or Micheals. In the Wedding stuff section there may be a few things you can start out with. Cards with dolly like things on top. Then, you can write or get stickers or type the info. You might want to stick little things from the scrapbook section too. You can get small fake flowers to tape on and make it really pretty.

I did the invitations for my cousin's wedding on my computer. She bought them at walmart and it it came with a complete invitation kit for $15. You can get different patterns that are professional looking but on a minimum budget. And on the website that was on the invitations it has several different wordings that you can put on your invitation or create your own. And it also lets you change preview how it will look in a certain color and lettering and font size. Try a craft store or google wedding invitation kits. Someone in my family put a pic of him and his fiance on the front of the invitation and it can out really gorgeous and they didn't pay 3-400 dollar for them.

Simply hand write each invitation yourself on quality paper of your choice. If you get a calligraphy book you can make it special. Then draw a small picture or get an artist to draw a small picture on the outside, that is tailored to the individuals you are inviting. People will be completely surprised and impressed. Mass produced invitations are less personal and are a product of the wedding industry.

An option for wedding invitations, especially for an informal affair, is going with an online printer such as VistaPrint. For around $50 for 100 you can create your own invitation or announcement online and have it sent to you within a few weeks. They come with white envelopes at no additional cost. For a few extra dollars you can upload your own design to have printed. These are professionally printed and won’t smear like an ink jet printer.

I used a brown paper lunch sack. I pasted white paper on one side put a bow on it sealed it with wax they were very cute and different. It was a shower invitiation. A BBQ theme. Suppose to bring in it favorite Sauce. Could make it work for a wedding though. They have colored bags at like micheals or pat catans maybe even walmart. Use same concept.

Okay, Im glad to share this with you because I have a friend who is getting married and I helped him and his wife design their invitations very inexpensively.
Take some pretty cardstock, or any type of stationary paper and use a half sheet to put the wording of your invitation, to decorate it take some transparent paper (the frosted kind not the clear kind) and put a picture of the two of you together, then fasten it to the paper with ribbon of your wedidng color. its really a beautiful design, looks classy and is inexpensive. Also under the picture you can put your name and your future spouses name and the date of the wedding.
Good Luck :)

Congratulations on your engagement......
Good luck with the wedding preparations
Be personal yet give each invitee same attention. Let a picture of you and your fiance/fiancee along with few lines of "your Song" be the backdrop of all the invites. If you have theme for your wedding imbibe that in your wedding card and then handwrite each one of them, if you are not sure sure about your writing skills, then pick a calligraphy book.

Be aware that places like willow tree lane have invites that start under $100 for 100 invites, tissues, inner envelopes, reception cards, response cards, and printed resopnse envelopes. Outer envelopes are usually under $20 per 100. These are invites that can be made simple but elegant if you use the right font and text. It actually isn't that much more expensive to go this route once you consider the time, printer ink, and separate expenses (inner envelopes, reception cards, etc) involved with doing it yourself.
If you decide to go the DIY route, please be sure to align everything properly in your printer so that the text doesn't overlap the design on the card. Please use a large enough font so that it doesn't blur and so people can read it. Please use high print quality. Please handwrite the guest's address. Please don't just Xerox inserts. Please don't include registry information. Please don't use pre-printed labels of any kind.
Good luck to you whatever you decide! I wish you success! : )

if this is a traditional 'white dress, black suit' wedding, i advise a creamy coloured paper (perhaps with a small blacked out picture of the traditional bride and groom you fine on cakes.) and a fancy BUT READABLE lettering. Make sure you and Bride/Groom's names are big! Whatever you do, DON'T put glitter on it or in the envelope, it seems childish!
