Not in my home. I love the English. They are so smart! Seriously, their education is probably why. They construct their sentences and their thoughts quickly and with facile grace. The other thing I particularly love about the English is their sterling sense of humour! Even when there is no apparent story line, there is a twinkle in the eye and a generous smile playing around somewhere there on the face. I have yet to meet a person who is English who is not "on the ball." If there are dullards, they have been well hidden in the shadows. I love the way the English use thatched roofs and landcape their homes with blooms and beautiful plants everywhere. They are rather civilized, and of course I love that, too. I hope, one day, that I will be able to tour England and actually meet the English on their home ground. You don't have to be hit over the head to know how tuned in the English are. You either see it, or you don't, period. They are cultured and unapologetic. I am referring to the English who survived the relentless bombing during World War II... the grace under fire, the kindnesses they showed to one another down in the bomb shelters, the way they mucked in to help one another... just amazing. I also happen to love the fierce courage they display whenever the occasion calls for it. It is in their DNA. It is also in their breeding. Their parents have done a beautiful job in rearing a literate, pleasant, with it and easy to be around people generally. You may think I am joking with you, here, but my remarks are coming from my heart. God Bless all you English! From Chris in South Portland, Maine, U.S.A. (I am 63 years old.)

I am not trying to antagonise, but I thought it was Americans who were disliked amongst the rest of world. Particularly, since Bush became their President with his negative foreign policy.
Me and my family (all english) have been treated well all over the world, including I should add, in Muslim countries where there is always bad press. I am not sure if Americans could guarantee such a response.

I don't dislike the English. I only dislike people after they prove themselves unlikable, and I haven't met an English person that I don't like yet..... People shouldn't lump everyone together. It shows a serious lack of class.

How can the English be hated all over the world, when the world is huge? There are about 6.5 - 7.5 billion people. How can everyone hate the English? I don't hate the English one bit. I find your lifestyle refreshing, only if the US could have such standards and morals.

After the U.S. alot of time the yes. But as individuals they are liked, not en masse in a foreign country.
What is strange though is how nearly everyone wants to come here, for a people so apparently disliked, it hasnt stopped England being flooded by visitors!

No, I love the way the English still hold true to their customs. Oh boy, and a man with an English accent is so attractive.

Drunken English men in packs aren't very popular around the world. They tend to be loud, obnoxious and shirtless and VERY PALE.
On the otherhand, Americans (and perhaps Japanese) seem to be disliked universally, regardless of their state of inebriation. Sad but true.
