For several reasons:
-They would be unable to evaluate your understanding of the topic
-They would be unable to go on to the next lesson
-They use the homework to evaluate themselves
-Because they are teachers.
For the most part, teachers are selfless.

They probably get angry because they know you can do better than you are. Homework is very important in the learning process for most subjects, especially when you're young. If the teacher really didn't like you or didn't care about you, he wouldn't tell you anything. It's actually easier for the teacher if you don't do homework, because they have less to grade. However, this one badly wants you to learn because he knows you can do better. Just do it!

I can't speak for all teachers, but, for me, as an older teacher, I have seen the potential of several thousand individuals unconsciously limit what they can be.
Many persons, including students, haven't realized that they are genuinely, as Ortega says, the novelist of their own lives.
Who is most likely to make the best decisions during their own life? The individual who is mostly committed to the knowledge of many different things or the person who lis mostly committed to the movies, TV, and Xbox?
Not learning learning basic principles early in life often leads to untoward difficulties later in life.
Many students assume that because they can't think of any use for what they are supposed to study, that what they are supposed to study has no use. This conclusion is natural and seems logical to naive persons.
If you do not learn to enjoy learning now, you will certainly not enjoy it in the future. Whateve you choose now, whether to study or not study, is what you are preparing yourself to do in the future.
What individual things many students do not know is not so harmful as the fact that they do not know, what they do not know. And that's why, I suppose, the young seem so often to repeat the same mistakes of their parents when that, in fact, is often what they wish to avoid.
As John Dewey wrote, " The ideal of using the present simply to get ready for the future contradicts itself. It omits, and even shuts out, the very conditions by which a person can be prepared for his future. We always live at the time we live and not at some other time, and only by extracting at each present time the full meaning of each present experience are we prepared for doing the same thing in the future. This is the only preparation which in the long run amounts to anything."
Knowledge seems to develop exponentially during life for many not turned off by school. A person's lack of study is not only a missed "once in a life-time" opportunity--you cannot relive your youth--but also a limitation for future happiness.

Teachers don't get paid a million dollars to teach. They receive a modest salary and teach because they love it, not because it pays the bills. When a student does not do their homework, a teacher feels like they have failed. That is why they get mad.

well judging by the fact that you not only used the wrong form of the word "affect" but you also misspelled it, I would say your teacher is concerned about your education and wants you to do better. Nobody gets far in life by slacking off. Unless your only career goal is to be the guy that pumps gas at the quickie mart I would suggest picking up a book once in a while.

Because it does affect yours. You may not care how you turn out, but most teachers teach because they do care. Forget the evaluation crap, the learning crap, etc.; a teacher hates to see students wasting their minds and talents. There are no opportunities out there for lazy people, and when they see someone wasting their potential, it makes them mad.

If you didn't care..then you wouldn't ask...Right?....Teachers shouldn't get MAD at you...that's immature..Tthey should just deduct points off of your paper for everyday that it is late....MOST Teachers GRADE papers ALL at once...When a student turns in a LATE paper, you are creating EXTRA work for them....In addition, you may have a better answer than the other students & if you turned your paper in on time, then perhaps your teacher could grade everyone else's paper comparing it to your GREAT answers....Get it?<^..^>...

If you don't do your homework, you generally can't learn the material. If you don't do your homework, it shows how lazy and inconsiderate you are. Teachers want you to not be lazy and inconsiderate.
Some teachers don't get angry; they would prefer that you do your homework.

Teachers get upset when their students don't do well, because it can reflect poorly on their teaching ability as well as on the class in general.
If you don't learn, you won't be able to get a good job later in life.
