I will be transporting a Friend and an adult cat in a single cab truck I am worried that the cat may get to hot and I am also concerned that it will stress the cat out to much any ideas leaving the cat is not an option.

Moved my cat from California to Arizona in his regular kennel (the one I use to take him to the vet) he cried until I put in my slept in nightgown and then he settled down and slept most of the way... good luck to you and your cat!

No problem mon; 1. See your vet and get tranquilizers for the cat. 2. Don't leave the cat in the box without a break or 12 for the whole trip. Really. 3. Be careful, when tranquilized cats will behave differently, my siamese bit my brother (badly) when my brother went to let him out of the carrier for a breather. Lastly and Please be kind to the cat, don't leave him in the truck for long periods in the carrier. Think how you would like it...cats get cramped up too. It will be a hot exhausting trip for all of you, especially him because he is all cooped up and frightened. Only use the tranquilizers if the cat is not travelling well. It's easiest to give the cat the pill if you smash it up in a small bit of food, then feed it the rest of the food after he has consumed the pill. Good Luck to you and the cat.

Go to a health food store and ask them for a product called rescue remedy.Place two or three drops in your cat's food and mix it in. My vet told me that it's safe for pets and humans and acts as a natural herbal relaxant. I would advise you not to let your cat out of the carrier unless it is contained in the truck first. My brother's cat escaped while on a cross country trip at a truck stop. Also,I've read that cats have a defense mechanism when they are stressed that allows them to go into a trance-like state.Just make sure that when you get to where you're going that you give your cat a quiet, safe place for it to acclimate in.

Put the cat in a pet taxi and make sure it has water. When you stop, let the cat out periodically, if it is safe for the cat (only with a leash). The cat will most likely sleep through most of the trip. If you can have a little litter box also in the pet taxi.

Make sure you have a cat carrier that is big enough for the cat to at least stand up in. Drive with the air conditioner on, make sure the kitty has plenty of water and when you make pit stops take the cat out and make sure he goes to the bathroom and let him walk around (on a leash of course) to stretch a bit. Don't take him out of the cat carrier to much when driving, they can get out of your arms and for some reason want to go by your feet. The cat will be just fine as long as it has fresh water and the air conditioner on. Good Luck!

We traveled from Texas to Arizona with our cat in our pathfinder. He did great. In the back we put his litter box, water and food. He would go eat or poop when he needed to. When we would stop we would scoop it so it wouldn't smell. Most of the time he slept. He would find something he could crawl under where it was dark and sleep. But my cat sleeps most of the day to. We kept him on a harness and leash just in case he tried to get out. My cat hated pet taxi's he goes crazy in the,Good Luck

I got the same problem AZ to Oklahoma. I was told they can give the cat something to calm it down while on the road. Makes them kind of sleepy. But you'll have to put it in a cage in the front seat. To hot in the back

Ship the cat separately. Contact FedEx... they have provisions for shipping animals overnight. You can wait until you get settled. Call to have the cat put on the plane and meet it at your end.
Much less stress all-around.

the vet will probably give it a mild sedadtive...it will be best for you, your friend and the cat. Especially if the cat is not used to riding...and really what cat is??
