How can I get my haircolor lighter if I have naturally dark brown hair with red tones?

I recently got my hair colored and the beautician used blonde highlights over my dark brownish-red hair. I'm not a big fan of blonde highlights because it never looks good on me. I wanted to know if she could go back in and do something to make the blonde not so blonde and maybe more of a lighter brown highlight.

use that loreal, or hebal essences whichever one it is shampoo for brunettes, it SHOULD darken the blonde, it does for me at least. either that, don't go out in the sun at all hardly.

As a temporary solution, you can use the new color glazes for brown or red hair, depending on which way you want to go. Use the glaze at least three times a week, and it will make a subtle shift in your too blond highlights. (I could see results after the first use.) The more often you use the glaze, the more intense color results you'll see.
When your roots are grown out enough to re-color, have your beautician bleach the highlights, rinse out the bleach, then add a non-peroxide light brown color to your hair. It will only affect the highlighted are. According to my hairdresser, putting color onto your hair helps give it body, too. My hair is chin length and I only have my top panel foiled instead of the whole head. The highlights spread around and look more natural this way. For reddish highlights, don't bleach the strands all the way out - it only takes a few minutes to lighten hair up. This can give you bronze or copper highlights, which can be beautiful in dark brown hair.

try using herbal Essences color flirt mousse. it gives color to your hair but it fades gradually. DO NOT pick a shade that is too dark because it will look fake. or you could try low light but they are high matainnence.
