The western world flourished in science thanks to the likes of: Newton,Galileo,Pasteur, Copernicus, the list goes on...even Darwin!! These GREAT minds believed in the Bible!! Their works and discoveries were to better understand God's marvelous creation. I believe God blessed them for believing in him, while the rest of the world fell behind...

Science is the study and explanation of the physical realm.Christianity is a religion of what can't be seen or proved beyond a book and faith. They are two exclusive views but can be shared.A scientist can be a Christian. But that doesn't make science a religion nor does it make religion a helper of science.

These men mostly did not believe in the bible, but nice try. Even the ones that did believe only furthered science because they wanted to know more. Not about gods creation, but about the natural occurrence of earth and its contents. If you have heard Darwin was religious, did you know Jesus believed in atheism and evolution, he first suggested evolution. If they had all believed, then how do you explain the accomplishments of the nonbelievers which out weight the accomplishments of the religious. Galileo said the sun was the center of the universe. This was considered heresy by the church. So if god gave him that knowledge, they god was against the church. Basically you are in every aspect wrong, but as I said, nice try.

I think Galileo and Copernicus might take issue with that. Both were persecuted by the church for their discoveries.
Galileo, who, at age 69 in 1633, was forced by the Roman Inquisition to repent, spent the last eight years of his life under house arrest. He was officially 'forgiven' in 1992.
The church condemned Copernicus' theory that the Earth revolved around the sun as heresy in 1616. He was praised by the pope in 1999.

Until the US was established, any European who denied the Trinity was imprisoned or executed.

While your claim may be technically accurate, they had no choice in the matter.

Newton was one of the first people to reject the "Jesus is God" myth invented by the Catholic church and adopted by King James. And, Newton rejected the idea that God intervened in the affairs of the earth. He was a Unitarian and an original "Deist."

Well, Galileo was forced by the church to recant his findings under threat of death and live under house arrest for the rest of his natural life. Imagine what advances he might have made had he been allowed to continue his work. Can you really say Christianity helped science in that instance?

It goes a hell of alot deeper than that. The only reason science works at all is God gave Adam the power of naming. This story in the bible has a profound esoteric meaning about the nature of reality and man's role, given to him by God, in the very creation of reality. Science is the vastly diluted remnant of that power.

A lot of counties have flourished in science, no matter what they believed in. The Japanese, for example, aren't Christian (for the most part) but have far exceeded the Western world in the science department.

Galileo defied the Church and was punished for it. He remained unrepentant for the remainder of his days. Newton was a ceremonial magician and an alchemist. Your statement seem out of synch with the facts. These people were not propelled into scientific study by Christianity. If anything, due to its dogma, the Church was an obstacle to them.

Amen!!! It is so true that God gave those people and the rest of the scientists the talents to better discern the workings of this world. To deny that is to deny that God gives us our talents. All real scientists are a work from God. I am proud to get to hear the teachings of these men and gifts from God whether the church and humans rebuked them or not, God did not give them thier talents to work for men but for the glory of God.
