You should place a cold compress on your thumb. You can use an ice cube wrapped in a few paper towels, a bag of frozen peas or corn, etc. Just apply pressure onto your thumb for a while. Eventually the pain will lessen. Later on, when the pain is not so bad, you can put some neosporin on it. You can also take some acetaminophen or ibuprofen if it hurts, but make sure to read the instructions on the bottle before you take any.
If the burn is too bad, you will need to see a doctor for medical attention.

Keep ice on it. If it develops a blister, you'll need to wrap it with a bandage and keep the bandage clean and dry. Change the bandage at least 3 times a day. Once the blister breaks, then you can put on an antibiotic ointment. It will take several days to heal if it develops a blister. If at any time the burn develops pus or smells bad, you'll need to see a doctor.

I used to work in a bakery, so I have some idea where you're coming from.
A cold compress is best. Aloe vera helps too, if you have it. If the blister has broken open, use neosporin or some other antibiotic cream or spray and a light bandage. And remember to keep it clean and dry as you can.

put some neosporin on it and rap it with a band'aid or some gauze and tape. your finger will burn and sting like crazy for a while due to the burn. make sure you keep it clean covered and keep an antibiotic on it. (if your a kid make sure you show an adult as soon as possible)

If you place your thumb firmly against the fatty tissue on your ear lobe your burn will go away(a little fact that not many people know about)

dipping in water gives just a temporary soothing ...
if the skin has not come off ..apply some toothpaste on it ... the paste should be white type .. not a gel type ..
if the skin has comeoff .. then you need an atibiotic cream like silver sulphasalazine (dermazine)
