"They've found fossils of seashells and sea creatures in the mountains. 40 days of heavy rain. It also says the ground opened up and spilled forth water."

Am I the only one who sees an alternate explaination for the fossilized shells on mountain tops?

Can anyone else give me one?

Whew. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't the only fool that actually bought in to that plate techtonics stuff.

At least some mountain tops (if not all) used to be at or below sea level, which would allow for sea life to live and die on them. The movements of the tectonic plates causes the land near the edges of those plates to push upwards. Mountain tops were not always mountain tops.

There's very little mystery to that. Depending on how a mountain was formed, it may or may not be expected to have fossils. My wife & I used to collect fossils from the higher areas of the Caribbean islands. These were volcanic formations - literaly arising out of the sea. There are essentially 3 other ways that mountains form, and all of them result on some part of the crust displacing actively upward relative to its surroundings. A kind of exception is the "erosive" formation, where the hard part stays and the softer stuff washes away.

In any case, once you understand how they form, it shouldn't surprise they rose with some fo the stuff they had on them. And a great deal of the surface was at one time or another covered in, or going in and out of, water.

Genesis 1 through 11 is not scientific or historical but largely mythical, metaphorical, poetic, theological, and moral.

The problem is all people are not knowledgeable.

Noah's ark landed on Mt. Ararat, an active volcano.
Mt. Ararat more than doubled its height during the flood.
214 days between the ark's grounding and the animals' release.
Constant rumblings, earthquakes, and landslides threatened destruction; fumaroles vented hot steam and sulfurous gases on all sides; occasional showers of ash and perhaps even lava added to the misery; and thunderstorms, with lightning, hail, rain, and snow, made many nostalgic for the open sea.

A fair explanation would be birds catching sea creatures and dropping bones, shells, or entire sea creatures at the tops of mountains, where many birds nest.

In fact, it's not unheard of to find partially eaten fish on mountains today. They certainly weren't left by the great earth flood of 2005.

there are fossils on top of mountains all over the world.

anyone dull enough to suppose that the entire surface of the earth was once submerged is going to have no problem at all with working out how noah got a pair of wallabies onto the ark (let alone the poor stick insects who would have had to walk all the way from lesotho).

I always thought they got there due to the movement of the tectonic plates.

But then again, I'm an atheist.......
