Kodak z650. 6.1mp, 10x optical zoom, large lcd, lcd view finder, can't be beat for less than $300.

I ended up getting a Canon Compact Powershot, 4 megapixels, Digital Zoom, 13 MB card (comes with it) and an Executive Package (lens cleaner, 256MB card, 1 yr warr.) for around $300. This site will take you through al kinds of digital cameras from all sorts of stores. You can even choose what you want from it to shorten the search (how many pixels, brand name, digital zoom, compact or normal, etc.). Check it out.

I purshased the Kodak 10x optical zoom and I love it! It takes amazing pictures and for a 10x zoom lens it was a good price. It is also easy to use. I think the Canons are overpriced espically if you are just using it to take everyday pics. Go with Kodak.

I love my Kodak easy share Z740 great camera for the money . It takes the best pics of any camera I have ever had, the software that comes with it makes you look like a pro.

do not get a Sony. they truly take Sony's memory sticks, and they are intense priced to substitute. i might want to bypass for a Canon, they're a sturdy form and they use SD playing cards that are much more cost-effective than sony's crap.

For some one who wants specifics you did not give many.......
Do you want a point and shoot?
a digital SLR?
One that has memory stick or cd?
Smart media cards?
Compact flash?
Big Camera or Little Camera...
And Your forgot one of the best lines which is NIKON..........

The software that comes with the camera is so important.Have the sales person show you how the software works.Ask hard questions.
