I have a co-worker that eats mushrooms as a form of getting high. What kind of mushrooms are these and what kind of high is usually achieved from them?

Psylocibin mushrooms have been eaten to get high for as long as there have been humans. They're not the kind of mushrooms you'll find in any store or along a trail in the woods.
Eating mushrooms is supposedly similar to taking acid, though the trip is usually shorter, around 6 hours. The buzz is said to include visual hallucinations (making normal things seem weird or new, but not seeing elephants or things that aren't there), and a warm tingling body buzz.
Mushrooms are reported to taste horrible.

It means he is experimenting with age old sacred plants,
your friend is either eating, psilocybin containing mushrooms, the ones with, n,n-di-methyltryptamine, ( DMT ) or the red cap, amanita muscaria which does not.
Psilocybin mushrooms are coprophilic, where as amanita muscaria is symbiotic to birch & fir trees..
If your friend is seeing elves & hearing voices, then he is eating the psilocybin species, if not, then he is not eating enough of them or else he is eating another species.
Most of the time one only experiences flashes of white light, these are from very low doses.
I wouldn't advise you to try them since you might be a very young person, but sometimes people do what they want, so all i can do is give you 3 simple rules to follow.
1: Does the drug come from a Plant ( still in plant form )
2: Does it have a history of HUMAN use .. ( history of 500 years or more ) Cultures will not use something that may cause harm to the tribe ..
& 3: Does the Plant have compounds which are compatible to human brain chemistry..
If what you want to try does not fit these rules then, stay away from them ..
You should stay away from them anyway, these plants are for thinkers artist & shamans, not everyday people wanting to play with something that may have effect on your psychology...
So, CAUTION my dear !!!
Drugs are not for fun, especially sacred plants which have been in use for thousands of years.
It have been suggested that because of Psilocybin mushrooms,
( DMT )
is what evolved our consciousness to be where it is today.
Be safe dear, drugs are not a game...
Look at the behavior of your friend and see if thats how you want to turn into !!!!

He means that he actually ate mushrooms. Magic Mushrooms as they're know. They are very hallucinogenic and should be avoided. you can never tell how strong they are and how hard they will affect you. They are a narcotic so stay away from them and him. I really hope he doesn't do them while working. If he does I'd report him because he is a dangerous person in this state.

Mushrooms like your co-worker is referring to contain a psychedelic called psilocybin. Eating them causes the user to hallucinate.

They are called Psilocybin Mushrooms and have an effect much the same as lsd and are a psychoactive drug so they will make you trip out and see visions . A major buzz in other words.

pscilicin in the southern hemisphere and pscylocybin in the north are pschoactives that exist in a few rare mushrooms known as magic mushrooms.

they are psybicilin shrooms and they grow under cow sh!t, usually dairy cows and down near creeks or other water cources. they turn purple when u pinch them. they taste nasty too. you trip your balls off like halucinate for hours on end. they are better than acid because they dont have stricktnine in them which is poisonous. for a more extreme high its best to drink lots of orange juice or any vitamin c you can get your hands on increases the hallucinations.

They are really dried mushrooms that make you hallucinate. You can eat them or boil them like tea.

just like they said. mushrooms. its a type of mushroom grown under horse or cow manure yes ****. and then they pick em, dry em, eat em. same as taking acid. hallucinate

Usualy it means that they had a mushroom that was soked in LSD. You would get a "trip" if you ate some.
