I know this couple with a Sealy high quality mattress that cost them about $100.

It is about a year old and has always been covered and has no stains.

Their daughter only used it for the last 3 months and now is moving to new home and they are giving it to me.

So is it okay to use it for my new baby when it was only used for 3 months and always taken care of?

Heck yeah!!! Saves you $100. Even if the baby used it for 2 years, it would still be good. Its not nasty or anything.

Yes. It will be fine. The only thing that you would need to concern yourself about would be some germs which can be easily removed, if they are present, by wiping the mattress with bleach water. Baby mattresses are not cloth so this will clean it just fine. Nothing to worry about. It is recommended that you not use a mattress with holes or tears in the plastic cover but that's it.

I got a used crib for only 50.00 not because I was being cheap but that fact that I knew the lady that was giving it to me.there's nothing wrong with that as soon as my son get finish with his i'm giving it to someone else I think thats its called passing the blessing on if the mattress is in good condition then take it and use i then when your finish pass it on to someone else.

I think so, if it is all plastic exterior and no holes. It also has to fit into a crib that passes all safety regulations, usually the new good quality ones are. Just clean it with soapy water that has a disinfectant. Rinse very well and you are good to go. And don't forget, to protect against SIDS, always put your baby to sleep on their back.

Since you know when and how that baby mattress was previously used, and your description sound pretty safe, there seems no reason why you shouldn't save the $100 and plan to use it for the new baby.

Why are you so worried about using hand-me-downs? There's NOTHING wrong with it. It sounds like you are more ashamed to do it than it being ok. When you have kids, it's BETTER if you buy used items, b/c brand new items will bankrupt you! My baby's crib and diaper changing station was used - some of their clothes are used, but in good condition.

Normally I would say no but if there baby is less than a year old and they only used it for 3 months it is probably in good enough condition to be safe enough to use. Especially since they are giving it to you FREE!!!!

I would inspect the mattress carefully and perhaps have it disinfected. If the people giving it to you had a pet, the dander might have gotten into the mattress and could cause allergy problems.

Yes it is okay to use it.

The couple has taken good care of it since you said it has been covered up and it has no stains.
