I live in a garden level apartment in the midwest. So right now it's humid and it stinks! My lease is up in 2 months and I have to show the place.

I'd wash the area real well with a baking soda solution. The when it's completely dry, sprinkle more baking soda on the spot. It's difficult to get the smell to go away, so buy yourself some scented candles or popurri, something to put in the room that will scent the room for when you show the place. If you are home when this is being done, light the candles, put on a pot of coffee or pop some popcorn - anything that will help mask the ordor. It will eventually disapate, but it can take a long time, so it should be gone by the time you move in 2 months.

rent a rug dr from a local grocery store. you will also need to get the shampoo. first clean carpet, rug dr works great, keep going over the offending areas until you are positive they are as clean as you can get them. you might want to pretreat before you start with a pet stain remover if you have noticeable stains. i only fill the clean water tank on the cleaner with very hot tap water plus the shampoo.(works better than cold water)
anyway, buy a good quality pet enzyme odor remover(many kinds avail. at petsmart) and pore it in a smallish plastic watering can and pore/sprinkle the solution over the peed on area. i have found the watering can is the only thing i can find that will spread the solution evenly over a bigger area without just pouring it on which wastes and many of the solutions are so expensive. if you have only a small area then just pour it directly on. make sure you saturate the area well so it will go down to the padding and floor underneath because the pee will have soaked in down there too. allow this to dry in to the carpet, DO NOT suction it up with the rug dr.(just follow the solution reccommendations on the bottle) you can point a fan down at the extra wet area so it will dry quicker. once the carpet is dry you can try to sprinkle baking soda on the area allowing it to sit for awhile to absorb any odor left and then vacuum, you can do this as often as you like. i would suggest that you try to be home for any showings, especially if you have a cat. you can buy ordor nutralizer air sprays that you can use right before some comes, or you just manage to have some chocolate chip cookies coming out of the oven as they walk through the door. (i got this tip from a home show that was giving tips on selling houses, most people love the smell of fresh baked cookies and it makes the place smell great.)
you might also want to splurge and have the air conditioner on before anyone arrives or on the days you will not be home when someone comes for a showing, this will help keep down any smell that you have not been able to remove. clean the litter box often too.
if you can afford it buy a "Fresh Air" purifyer, they work GREAT!
although the cost can be prohibitive, $600 to $800!!!

Take a pot of water and heat it until it boils. Turn off the heat and when it cools from a boil and its not bubbling, take the water and pour it on the spots. While its still wet, and hot, put a drop or two of vinegar on it. With a white towel or cloth, dab, not rub, the spots until dry. Don't use a colored cloth because the water should still be hot and it will cause the color to run. After the spot is dry, sprinkle baking soda on the floor and let it set for a while before vacuuming it up. What ever odor and moisture is left, the baking soda will absorb.

Vinegar works miracles. You might also consider a dehumidifier. There's also a commercial product called UrineGone but I've never used it. Febreeze also makes a Dog and Cat Odor formula.

Try Bleach for Colors. It works quite good on carpet from what I'm told, and bleach will also kill the bacteria left behind.
