Minor Kitchen Remodel - cost recouped 92.9%
"In a functional but dated 200-square-foot kitchen with 30 linear feet of cabinetry and countertops, refinish existing cabinets, and install new energy-efficient wall oven and cooktop, laminate countertops, mid-priced sink and faucet, wall covering, and resilient flooring. Repaint. Job includes new raised-panel wood doors on cabinets."

SO... according to this report... even the number one remodel will not raise the value of your home.
I agree with everyone who says that painting and a really good cleaning will help.

A remodeled kitchen adds the most value to the house, but is also the most expensive to remodel. A remodeled bathroom is also a great bonus.

Either the kitchen or the bathroom. They are the two most used rooms in a house.

The kitchen. If you remodel one bathroom, make sure you do the others also. Buyers don't like to see a great, newly remodeled bathroom, then see other bathrooms that haven't been touched.

I agree, kitchen and bathrooms. I think kitchen would be most important but that would depend on the condition of the room. which would need it the most out of the two.

the kitchen or living room because the most expensive items go in there and of course those rooms would have to look nice because that is where everyone gathers for like a family thing

if you are looking to increase the resale value of an existing piece of property, your best remodeling choices are kitchens and bathrooms.

Kitchen will raise the most, but usually also costs the most to redo (new appliances, tile, etc...)

A few words... tile floors last the longest; carpet, if not very old, is usually the first thing new home owers want to replace given dirt, bacteria, etc...

Fresh paint and clean EVERYTHING. If it looks (and smells) clean, buyers will assume it always has been.
