The Bible speaks of 40 days of rain.

It's been raining where I live for 3 days straight and it has been devastating to homes and roads in the area.

What do you think?

It happened. Could happen again if that's what God decided, but he made a promise to us that it wouldn't (thus the rainbow)
But yes, it could happen. Whether there's enough water or not, let's not forget the ice, and if some earth needed to be dropped a little so the water could cover it, guess what God would send? an Earthquake! So that's what I think. It happened. Kind of amazing but that's what he is!

Most people never had 40 days of rain so their brains can't really grasp the devastation it would create if there were 40 days of rain. Plus, lots of people just want to discredit the bible so they refuse to believe it too. There are a couple of reasons for this.

Sure, it'll cause floods, but not a global one. There's only so much water to be had in this world, rain isn't falling out of space. Even if you melt the ice caps, there would still be plenty of land above sea level. You can't cover the earth with water unless you flatten out the continents.

Edit: Yes, it's very convenient when all you have to do is insert the magic of god to explain things, isn't it? Hell, why don't we just say he teleported the current earth away and replaced it with a watery one while no one was looking! Boy, what I wouldn't give to have your ignorance.

4o days of rain could certainly happen since the world is made up mostly of water.

But it would be extremely devastating - that would cause major floods and damage. It's actually a big deal!

simple math and logic

1)there is not enough water in the world to submerge everything
2)where would the water have gone?
3)where would it have come from?
4)where is the archaeological evidence of such a large event?

I could go on, but if you don't get it by now, I give up.

I think they mean that with the present water amount on Earth, there isn't enough to flood the whole world. God would have had to add water and then take it away.
