What are signs and symptoms of a urinary tract infection of a 3 year old?

not eating or drinking, has a high fever

UTI symptoms are usually, but NOT limited to: fever, frequent urination, odor to the urine, child complains of pain while urinating.

Not eating is not a big deal, but you MUST get fluids into your child. Ice pops, Jello, all of that stuff counts as fluids. This is NOT an option!!! If she hasn't urinated in the last 8 hours, CALL YOUR DOCTOR NOW!!!

How verbal is your child? Will they freely tell you if something hurts? Or are they the type that no matter what you ask hurts, they say yes?

There could be a fever. But it is not necessarily so. They may be an itch. There may be external redness. There is apt to be cloudiness of the urine. Pour the urine into a jar to see cloudiness. If there is an urinary tract infection that is causing some of these symptoms the doctor will most likely want to give the chlld medicine to kill the infection.

My daughter has a medical condition that causes frequent UTIs and one thing that always happens along with fever, pain while urinating and a strong smell to the urine, is a cloudy discharge. It's white to almost yellow in color at times and usually precedes any other symptoms. Her urine will look cloudy because of it, as well.

I don't know of the symptoms you mentioned being symptoms of a UTI, but consult your physician if problems keep up! It could be a kidney issue!

Painful urination, frequent attempts to urinate and fever are signs. He could have a strep throat or a cold. Call the office and ask to speak with a nurse and they will tell you if you should get him in or possibly what it could be.

Take her to the doctor/emergency room asap! My three year old had one and it ended up getting to her kidneys, she was in the hospital for four days. She was also vomiting up everything she ate or drank and her fever would not stay down no matter what.

my niece suffers from having UTI but I think that the best thing to is to first take her to her Peditricain but in the mean time see if she'll drink some cranberry grape its taste just like grape juice I know that you said that she wanst eating or drinking but when a kid gets thristy then they will drink anything.
But b-4 I try to diagosis the problem I would take her to the Dr cuz it might be something else like chicken pox.

my neice has this right now, if he/she is complaining about their tummy hurting and holding his or herself when they feel like they are going to pee. my neice has been wetting the bed even though she is potty trained and complains that it hurts her when she pee's... accompanied with a fever and the not eating and drinking could be because of the fever. i would take her/him to the doc and get her/him checked out

that sounds like a flu a uti would be painful when they pee and will at some point pee blood (just like an adult) normally they will not have a fever over 100 degrees

strong pee ( in color and smell), crying more than normal, hold his/her pee because it hurts to go... feeling like they have to pee all the time..fever... alsp be casreful your appendix can cause the symptoms you named...( I had mine removed at 7...)
