According to the Bible, the Tower of Babel was man's attempt to reach Heaven without the aid of God. God then destroyed the tower and decided that man could do too much if he had a common language that all could understand. So when he destroyed the tower, he caused man to speak in different languages so that he could not become so coordinated again and try to reach Heaven without reaching God first. He has only a little problem with planes, he sometimes doesn't like them but for unknown reasons.

God didn't invent planes, man did. What the hell does the tower of babel have to do with this? They were trying to reach God, not fly a plane.

When the people made the tower of Babel they were acting in a form of greatness. They thought they were so powerful that they could build a tower that reached to heaven. They even thought they deserved to be in God's presence. With airpalnes we mostly use them for transportation to somewhere. We don't utilize them for purposes that would affect or challenge God's greatness.

It was not the thing, it was the reason for the thing,

in the tower of Babel, man was trying to build a tower tall enough to reach heaven, man was trying to make hisself a god.
It was not as much the tower itself but the evil that was in the heart of the men doing it.

I would think that it was because the Tower of Babel was built with the intent to reach heaven and God, whereas airplanes are meant for travel.

So many people are making excuses for God's actions here. Even if people wanted to build a huge tower thinking they could reach God, why not let them. They would of course have failed. But God saw people working together to reach a common goal and decided to divide them with language and scatter them around the world. This single action by God caused millions of people to die over the years thanks to cultural differences that did not exist before He did this. Why would a perfect being that loves us so very much wish to cause so much pain, suffering and death?

People of Babel were wicked and trying to "get" to God just by climbing to him, they were trying to prove they didn't need to be good or anything they could just build something up to him...also were getting away from His teachings.
