This happened to a friend. Jane and John took a day off work. They went around the city visiting special places - museums, cool restaurants, etc. While they spend the day together, John's brother was following them around (in hiding) and taking pictures of their day together. He had a digital camera and a portable printer with him. So while they were at dinner, John's brother printed out all the cool pix and put them in a photo album and set it on a park bench. John and Jane went to the park where they saw the album sitting on the bench. Jane opened it up and saw all kinds of great pictures of their day together. John got down on his knees and proposed.

As long as it was something I wasn't able to predict AT ALL, I would love it. None of that crap where I'm treated to a salon and pampered at dinner... that's just so corny and obvious. Do it when she would be least likely to expect it. As long as it's original to you and her, it will be special and romantic. Somewhere you first met that you already visit often. An activity she's been wanting to do that isn't totally extrodinary (like going on a cruise around a lake, or visiting a city not far from home, dinner at a restaurant that isn't super expensive, but she's been dying to try it for months!), and she'll never see it coming. Plus it would leave a mark on that location that she wasn't anticipating, and that's very special.
Good luck!

It totally has to do with the girl if she likes to be romanced and most women do. Take her somewhere romantic like place you first kissed or held hands or something. I really want to be proposed to after going on a beauitful hike on my fav day hike up to the top and then him spinning round and popping the question something like that would be romantic to me. Be secrative and don't let her catch on the surprise is half the fun. Try to be creative as possible.

I think the most romantic thing would be to just do it..no stupid dinner..or gimmick...just sitting on the couch in your jammies watching some silly tv show...totally vegging out..and then BOOM! the question is popped....Then when you start to cry because you are so happy you don't have a million people staring at you and clapping...Low key is totally the way to go.

I would love for him to take me to the canyon during the winter at night and have the lights somehow romantically arranged at the ski resorts - so that its dark and snowy but awesomely cool, have something pretty set up , like flowers, or some lights in the trees... and then have him get down on one knee....

I would like to be taken to a concert that I could enjoy and he would take me backstage with the band and they would sing a song he wrote proposing to me. But that is just me.

Well, I'll tell you some ways I've been proposed to.
He made me dinner and had the table set very nice. Candles, placemats, centerpiece(keepsake). Served me dinner and after we ate he proposed to me. Very sweet.
Just outright asked me!
