for my birthday me and my friends (girls and guys) want to go on vacation for the weekend. We want it to be somewhere we can drive to from california (southern). We're in our early 20's. Where would be a good place for us to go?

That all depends what you like to do.
Maybe rent a boat and go out to a lake, like Lake Isabella, my friend loves that place. You could camp and boat. Also, Lake Havasu. There are also hotels near by if you don't like camping.
Obviously, Vegas, TJ, & San Diego if you want to be in the city or get wilder.
If you are more laid back there is Sovang, San Simeon, or the wineries of Central CA.
For Hiking/Camping there is Sequoia Natl Park, one of my favorite places in CA. Mammoth area is nice for hiking, too...Convict Lake.

If your in California pretty much anywhere in mexico is a good place to go. Its fairly close and provides plenty of activities whether it be a relaxing day on the beach or club hopping at night. I recomend checking out some travel sites such as priceline or travelocity to find some hotels in your price range... or even check out some sites where you can camp on the beach.

The local racetracks with a chance of really being entertained and the casinos at night as they all have a bar....but if it were i ,i would go to a large park and rent a cottage for a couple of weekends and swim,barbaque,fish,etc....and do the ''local'' sean in the evening and play a few games in the late afternoon....

rent a nice 4 Star hotel in Santa barbara and enjo the beauty of the city or take a road trip to the grand canyon

Carmel or Montrey are both nice. Great place to get a way and find some time to talk and just be together.
