I'm sorry. Your question is based on fallacy. God is both loving and vengeful. God is immutable, and the confusion comes because our focus is wrong. Over the many centuries the attributes that make up God's character have never changed. Also, mankind feels that the JUST God cannot be the same as the LOVING God, becuase they suppose such character attributes to be contradictory. In fact, they are not. The Lord is both loving AND just. 'Whom the LORD loves He Chastens'. However, God can not contradict himself or his very nature. Therefore, because he is, indeed, a just god, there must be consequences to sin and wrongoding. Hence, a final judgement and the destruction of the wicked.
