I'm curious to see what some of the excuses are that people use and also the reason why you didn't want to be on jury duty.

Update: Interesting answers already! For the record, I have been on a grand jury that lasted 6 months (but we only met one day a week the first month and then one day every 3 weeks after). Every other time I have had too high of a number and they've just put me back in the computer. I look forward to someday participating in a trial...as a JUROR and not a defendant or victim.

I've never tried. Been summoned for jury duty 3 times, and happily did my DUTY each time. My wife got called once, but she was 9 months pregnant at the time and they let her out of it (her first day of duty would have been her due date).

No, I have never been called for jury duty. I would like to be, but I would never get on a case. I am friends with too many police officers, and the defense lawyers would not want me!

I was on jury duty one time and a few years later i was asked again, so i lied because my life was very busy at the time and i felt a bit offended that i was being asked again when i know lots of people that had never even been asked once. I told them that i was a Jehovah Witness.

No, but my grandfather when polled for jury duty once answered, the defendant must be guilty if he's here. Grandpa was excused.

No, never lied, spent my time doing the right thing. Yeah, it's a great thing to convict someone, only to read another notice that the guy was let OUT and committed yet ANOTHER crime. Sure, a jury of his peers....

In my country, We don't have juries. Its only the judge(s) who are involved. So I never had to lie toget out of it!

PS- theonly reason I answered was bcos I want to find out what lies people tell in this case. Rather than trying to search for the question, I now have a link to it in my Q&A!

Yes. It was a drunk driving case. I needed the money from my real job pretty bad, and wanted to get to work that day, so I told the judge and attorneys that my best friend had been killed by a drunk and I was immediately disqualified and allowed to go home. As it turns out, a good friend of mine was killed by a drunk a few years later.

Of course! I went once and it was a waste of time. I figured out a trick since; I put down that i work for a TEMP Agency and that i may lose my job if i miss. works everytime!
