Doesnt seem that we have ruined marriage without the help of gay marriage. Look at the divorce rate...could be possibly screw it up anymore. Maybe gay marriage might actually benefit the divorce rate.

From the way some of these people are answering it seems as though allowing gay marriage might cause an out break of being gay.
..Which sounds like we're all secretly gay, and could definitely be gay if we just were in an environment with a lot of homosexuals.
These people will back up their fear of homosexuality with a lot of bogus figures. They'll cite the bible. They'll cling to this until the end of time. However, what they need to realize is that their opinion of homosexuality shouldn't stand in the way of gay marriage. I don't think that sexual orientation matters when it comes to marriage - if you're in a bad marriage, you're in a bad marriage. If your family life is not so good..then again, it has nothing to do with sexual orientation, but rather with the individual people involved. It's not a hard concept to wrap your head around. You're not going to 'corrupt' people with gay marriage. You're going to allow a group of citizens who have long been put down to have the rights that they deserve, the same rights that heterosexual couples have been abusing for ages. Just learn how to be in a healthy relationship, because that is the missing link.

The very fact that the combination of one woman and one man is no longer being cherished as an ideal that needs to exist in order for a particular relationship to be a marriage is not only specific evidence but actually definitive PROOF that families in those countries are being ruined. That isn't in the Bible; rather, it's common sense.

Apparently, allowing gay people to get married it will lessen the meaning of all the heterosexual marriages. I'm not sure how or why, but that's what "they" say. Funny how people who don't even associate with gay people feel threatened by them.
Wait a minute.... Marillita says if we allow gay people to be gay more people will "turn gay"??? I wasn't aware it was contagious! I'd better stop hanging out with my gay friend and his boyfriend, I might start to like guys!! Can that happen to a happily married, heterosexual female??? I try to be nice when answering questions, but that is by far the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

Data from an economist with Philadelphia’s Swathmore College suggests that national recognition of same-sex partnerships leads to significant reductions in syphilis rates.
In Denmark, a survey conducted in 1995 indicated that 89 percent of the Danish clergy now admit that the law is a good one and has had many beneficial effects, including a reduction in suicide, a reduction in the spread of sexually transmitted diseases and in promiscuity and infidelity among gays.
Far from leading to the "destruction of Western civilization" as some critics (including the Southern Baptist, Mormon and Catholic churches among others) have warned, the result of the "experiment" has actually been civilizing and strengthening, not just to the institution of marriage, but to society as a whole.

Gay activities, marriage relationships etc. Are not only a sin before the eyes of God, but they also open a different dimmension to people.
For example, if you hand out with people who listen to a certain type of music, more than likely you will pick on that same style on your own in the future.
Likewise, openly gay activity will graudally rise the amount of homosexuals in a certain area. Which would be the reason why it would be openly accepted.
When children are instructed that Drugs are bad for you, but drugs are being used on every corner of their residential area, more than likely these kids are going to try drugs if not begin to abuse drugs.
The Same way with homosexuality, we are instructed that homosexuality is a sin before the eyes of God, however, if my teacher, the neighborhood cop, my principal, the lady at the bakery and so on and so on are also homosexuals then children begin to question and begin to think its correct, and will more than likely "test the waters" ane eventually build a homosexual relationship themselves.

Probably no evidence that gay marriage has ruined families....but like all statistics, only numbers.
Ruining families in other countries is war, aids, terrorists, bombings.....they don't ask your sexual preference before you are gang raped or shot in the head do they?

I've noticed a rash of horrible homosexual questions in this forum. I'm beginning to wonder if Religion/Spirituality is gay. I mean, think about it. All of these people come here, obsessed with homosexuality, what else am I to think. Maybe gay marriage is ruining marriages in Christianity/Religion/Spirituality.

Gees, it's hard to believe that Americans are so naive about homosexual family demographics. Without citing hundreds of INTERNET sources I ask people to consider the following and to be academically honest, which means: RESEARCH for yourself!
Just a few homosexual family demographics:
1. Increased domestic violence, especially among gay men - ask any "village" cop
2. Increased juvenile delinquency - ask child probation officers
3. Increased alcoholism and drug abuse
4. Increased suicide rates, especially among gay family teens
5. Decreased mortality rates - get a life insurance quote, and tell the agent that you are gay
6. Increased welfare rates for which everyone pays through higher taxes
Get real and do your homework if you want to know how gay families affect themselves and society.

There are also gays in the military in other countries, and we're happy to fight side by side with them in Iraq, how does that work? Why didn't we say, "no thanks Great Britain, your gays in your military make it ineffective so we can't use you in Iraq."?
Of course it hasn't hurt any of those societies in those countries. To me, it's about taking a look at other countries and asking are we more like those we respect and have more in common with on this particular issue, or are we more like those we don't respect. Most of the EU nations have more actual freedoms than our nation has or is taking away. In this area, we're moving in the direction of other mono-theocratic nations like the Middle Eastern nations and even China and Russia. Really, we'd like to emulate Russia?
