I talked to a neighbor of mine who is a doctor and they told me horror stories about people kept alive who should have been dead. I guess in extreme cases I could see this as a possibility. People who have painful diseases with no cure that will kill them anyway. I do disagree with it as a way to get ride of old people or cancer patients unless they are suffering extremely. Yes it should be legalized with consent of relatives and a doctor in extreme cases..

This is a complex issue which cannot be approached purely from an emotional or religious standpoint. As a nurse, I am aware of hopeless and terminal situations in which a euthanized death would be the most compassionate response. I do not believe in prolonging needless suffering. I would like to see euthanasia legalized but there would need to be very strict criteria that would have to be met and I would anticipate much disagreement as to what the specific criteria would be. An expressed wish to die would certainly have to be part of that criteria.

According to a recent study of terminally ill patients, on average those with an increased desire for death also had a higher level of depression, more hours required for caregiving and greater marital satisfaction.

I honestly don't know if euthanasia will ever be legalized but I'd like to be able to handle end-of-life suffering in a more effective way than I am legally and ethically allowed.

I'm going to say "yes" to this one... but it should be tightly restricted... witnessing the pain my dad was in with stage 4 bone cancer was not fun

He had absolutely no chance of recovery and spent 4 months in excrutiating (sp?)

We, humanely, have the option to allow our pets not to suffer, why not our human loved ones?

Of course, this will open up a huge debate about euthanizing the 90 year old mother in the nursing home that nobody wants to visit... but I don't think any one with common sense and compassion is talking about that

yes it should...people that say that it shouldnt are using their own opinion and the decision is not whether us individually are for or against it...but when it should be an option...if it were legalized-both sides would win becuz if ur against it, just dont do it

I think so. I can't understand why people think they have the right to tell someone, no you can't die with dignity, you must suffer for the six months your doctor said you'd live. How can you tell someone what they should or should not do with their body? It's ridiculous.

yes and no. If you've seen a close family member suffer
you wonder why? We don't let animals suffer that much.
However, it could be dangerous too, considering that people might be after organs ,,,,get my drift?
