Peta.....there is a spellcheck button available when you ask the question. It's right above the box you type the question in.

Let me answer with a question: Why is it SO very important for people not to make mistakes? I think the content of the question is more important, even if there are spelling or even grammar mistakes. Language is a tool, and if you get what you wanted, it doesn't matter how you used. It's like hammering with the handle of the hammer. That's possibly going to be less effective, but if I do manage to do my job, who cares I didn't use the right part of the hammer? Are you going to un-hammer the nail, just because I didn't use the hammer the right way? Are you even going to nag me about how I don't know how to use a hammer? Most probably, not. But language is also an indication of social and cultural background, so it seems to me that often comments on how people use the language are really comments on what social class a person is. And I couldn't care less about that.

The Internet is replete with gramattically inept people and horrible spellers. It irritates me to no end because I learned how to spell and how to use grammatical concepts beginning when I was two years old. I am now an author, and I do not appreciate people who do not take the time to learn grammar and spelling skills. And to think that people are butchering their own mother tongue: that is deplorable! School boards should definitely crack down on the grammatically inept by setting extremely high standards for minimum passing grades in English and on the English portion of their particular state's standardized test; there is absolutely no reason for American students to be failing (or even making less than a B) in the study of their own language.

I asked the same question a while ago. Doesn't it irritate the hell out of you? I think it is embarrassing for the education systems that people can't spell simple words. Then you are given a tool literally, right at your fingertips, and people are too lazy to use it.

.because if you are using words in a sentence such as meds for example as a short form it will hi light it as a spelling mistake and then will not continue throughout your sentence even though that is the word you want to use

Do you get the gist of what they are saying? If so, just roll with it, life is to short to devote a question to such a frequent occurence.

less time consuming- it's not like we're writing term papers here... however sometimes it gets so bad you can't tell what the person is trying to say.
