If you think you are a Hybrid Monkey, then light and dark are only rotating environmental states, and your enlightened philosophical question of my preference, is moot. You are more than the sum of your parts. That's why we are an anomaly on this planet.

Actually, you need balance in everything, so I'd choose darkness and light. There is no light without darkness, no darkness without light. So, one cannot "exist" without the other.

I often wonder how the Christians & Catholics become so brainwashed. So, something is evil, or "dark" just because the church officials (priests, pastors, reverends, the Pope, etc.) have voted that it is or because some book (the Bible) written thousands of years ago & then altered on numerous occasions throughout history says so. How do you give a rational argument for that? Evolution makes scientific sense & does not rule out the existence of a Higher, Divine Being (ie-God). Who put the chain of evolution in motion? How can you say you are a rational & reasonable person & then adopt a theory that goes against science & nature?

And, BTW, darkness does not equal evil.

I believe in evolution, and a Higher Power, but that Higher Power is so vast, that it is incomprehensible to the Human Mind. It certainly isn't a tall guy with a beard, a stick and some sheep and a big "G" on his pocket. I have read a lot of Joseph Campbell's works and prefer his take on how modern religions stemmed from the Mythologies of the past, and that all ancient cultures had similar themes and forms of worship, i.e. Death and Resurrection, The Messiah, and the Virgin Birth. Unfortunately, the Religions of the Occident (the West) don't suffer any competition, and would have you believe that they are the only game in town, and have striven to destroy the other religions or histories as they can't stand the competition.

Well darkness came before light and will come after light, making darkness eternal. Especially in light of the fact that the only time darkness cannot exist is if there is a source of light and all sources of light fade. Obviously darkness is the truth and who doesn't prefer truth?

It's funny that you mention darkness vs. light because I think that is one of the strongest arguments against evolution: the eye.

The eye one of the most fabulously complex devices in the natural world. Darwin postulated/hypothesized/pulled out of his... hat... that "light sensitive" cells developed (by random mutation of course) and gradually evolved into the eye. However - even at that basic level - the light sensitive cells would be of no use whatsoever to the organism unless they were connected via nerve cells/chemical pathways/some mechanism to the organism's brain or control center such that knowing whether it is dark or light out could help the organism.

However, the fossil record shows an explosion of eye-having organisms appearing on the scene in the Cambrian period. The pre-Cambrian period shows only worms and sponges with no light sensitive organs or cells and certainly no gradual progression to organisms having eyes.

well Somehow there seems to be a confusion as to who is in the light and what is the light.
John 1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
John 1:5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

John 1:7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
John 3:20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
John 3:21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
Joh 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

Act 13:47 For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.

No, I prefer the Light to darkness. That's why I choose to believe the Light of the World... Jesus... while you choose to remain in the darkness of your vain sin and pride.

Have I answered your question the way you expected? Oh well...

I have no problem with the theory that the universe sprang forth from nothing for no reason and the planet is populated by evolved ooze.

It is as plausible as any other theory including religion given the fact that man hasn't the foggiest idea of his origin and likely never will.

I do know that if I were a creator, I would design my createes to be blind to my true existence.
