sounds like this car is getting good reviews and the input on the Honda shows it to be its cometition. However, the HP answer has me confused- can someone elaberate. I thought more HP equals more gas consumption--Im not the expert so someone please step up--Thanks

It is very reliable car. My wife has 96 Corolla, it still run greats until today. We never have a problem with engine. All you need to do is just change oil, tires and break pads regularly. It has great gas millage.
Con: I don't like its design and small size. Beside that it is a great car.
Don't just listen to my word. Here is what other people think on Edmund.com

Great car. They last forever, with little care and maintenance or headaches. My 1987 Corolla runs like a clock and has 392,000 KM. They are not a Hot car, but if you want worry free motoring, few cars can touch it in the long run... If you want a new car though, they may be a bit overpriced now and other cars have also got high standards now.

I love my Corolla, great gas mileage, 42 on the highway. Had it over a year, and had nothing done, except oil changes. We also have a Tundra, I wont buy anything but a Toyota now, they are GREAT! Corolla is very roomy.

well if ur driving for long distance, i would not recommend it because the corolla only has 115-160hp depends on what model. in order to drive hwy perfectly w/o stomping on the gas you need at least 200hp. i recommend honda vehicles such as the accord or but dont get the camry, i have one and its slow but the price isnt too bad. and tip on buying a car give them one price , they dont like it go to another dealer, but it only works on amercian vehicles dont ask me why.

I have a 2004 corolla.
great gas mileage, I get close to 40 MPG during the week
plenty of room, it doesnt feel like a small car
good extras, like CD player and airbags and ABS
and decent price

personally, i would go with a Chevy Cobalt instead.while it gets around the same gas mileage, you get a better bang-for-the buck feeling when you drive one.
