One family outside/inside dog and one inside family cat. An outside dog next door (doubt being treated) right on the other side of the fence from our family dog kennel. Therefore I need to know how to treat the outside kennel and yard, the inside of the home and the pets.

the easiest way to treat the home and yard is to use borax.... you can buy it in the laundry section.... its a powder... sprinkle it in yard and on carpets, bedding etc.... and let it sit for awhile then kind of rub it in... use sparingly as it is a soap and will foam when you clean your carpets... make sure to rub it in, so the animals dont lick it... it takes about 12 hours to work... but it works good... every two weeks....
its really best to get a pesticide that you attatch to your garden hose and spray your yard really good with it... it costs about 10.00 a bottle from home depot.... it usually lasts about 3 months...
but you can use the borax if you need to... its a little cheaper, though it'll wash away after one good rain... the best stuff for the animals is to "dip" them, then to give them those flea drops that are good for a month to help keep fleas off of them....
i dont know about home remedy stuff for fleas.... the borax tip came from a guy that used to do our landscaping, as we had an outside/inside dog, and the fleas got bad... the borax helped alot in the house... (i am allergic to flea bites) and when i cleaned the carpets i didnt have to use anything but water.... lol
we went to home depot and got the yard stuff, as our yard was over an acre.... and it was cheaper to do it that way than to do the borax outside....

Purchase Frontline!! It works wonders!! And it also lasts for 30 days. Also a pill called "Capstar" which costs about $5 from a vet office will kill all fleas on the dog with in 30 minutes! Awesome stuff. DO NOT use Hartz brand or Walmart Flea products, they can cause serious health issues and death in animals!! Lowes should carry products to treat your yard for fleas. But use Capstar and Frontline on your dog and cat!
