Just a ques. I am not gay, but my uncle was (whom I loved dearly) and I don't have a problem with homosexuals like other people do. But, really if GOD created us then why is homosexuality a sin. I don't understand that. I actually watched the Gwen Aroyo story and just wondered. Why ?

So maybe it is true it is a disease. So i guess all homosexuals can be treated then. BULLCHEESE.. Honestly I think they are born that way. Maybe it was a defect- who knows. THANKS TO EVERYONE.

In all honesty, homosexuality is an unnatural behavioral aberration. I say this not in a hateful manner, but in a purely scientific manner, just as someone who says that the Big Bang is true and not Creation is not saying that because s/he hates Christians/Jews/Muslims. All religious issues aside, Darwin said that the sole reason a trait develops during the course of evolution is to increase the chances of the animal bearing that trait to reproduce. If a human were to develop homosexually and natural evolution were allowed to take its course, s/he would not reproduce as the sole physical manifestation of this trait is to prevent homosexuals from reproducing normally! If homosexuality ever were an inborn characteristic, the survival of the fittest would have eliminated it from the human genome.

If homosexuality is not a question of nature, it is therefore a question of nurture. In all the studies conducted on the matter, none has ever shown that a homosexual man had a warm relationship with his father. This is why homosexuality was classified as a psychological disorder until a highly politicized decision in the 1970s, just around the same time that Roe v. Wade was making itself through the Supreme Court. However, to this day, there are many respected psychologists and psychiatrists who regard homosexuality as a mental disorder. Indeed, the father of modern day psychology, Sigmund Freud himself, recommended (and successfully treated several homosexuals via) psychoanalysis as a means of 'curing' homosexuals. Of course, this position has become so entrenched in the past 30 decades that anyone who would wish to reverse the APA's decision would need an enormous amount of political capital to do so, regardless of the validity of their claim. In short, I have nothing against gay people, however, I do believe that their lifestyle is inherently wrong and that they should be treated for their disorder much the same as alcoholics or schizophrenics.

Gay is a choice, not something you're born with. Just like murder is a choice. Sin is a choice.

Being gay or having a homosexual orientation is not a sin. Just like having a heterosexual orientation is not a sin. However, straight people commit sin through lust and adultery. The sinful act lies in the physical act of "intercourse." God may have created you with a homosexual orientation, but He also created you with the ability to control yourself. The act of having sex (although technically not for homosexuals) is equal to the sins of adultery, masturbation and other such sins of the flesh. Orientation is part of God's creation.

Now, the next question to come to mind must inevitably be, "then why am I oriented this way if following that is a sin?" The best way I can put this is that you are called to live a vocation of abstinence and solemnity. You are called to dedicate all of your being, even your sexuality, to God. That statement goes for everyone, straight or gay whatever.

If we were to follow the logical end to the question, we could also ask, "If God created us, then why is it a sin to be a fornicator?" or "a thief?" or "a jerk?"

When God created the universe, He saw that it was "good." Then, He gave our ancestors an opportunity to choose between Him and themselves. They had one command to obey, and chose instead to disobey. Because of that sin, the world, and everyone, and everything in it, is under a curse. This is called "The Fall." Since the fall, people have chosen to act on all kinds of impulses. You can choose whichever impulse you can think of, and find an example of it. Homosexuality is but one of many impulses that people choose to act upon. Those same Scriptures that point to "this is wrong," mention a variety of practices that God hates.

Every person is born inherently sinful. Whatever their "bent," they can choose between the wrong and the right. Those who act on their impulses for whatever they crave, offend a holy God daily. It doesn't have to be homosexuality, but in the case of this question, it is.

If I have a fleshly craving for power, and I act upon that, making a jerk of myself, and making others around me miserable, I am just as much of a sinner as the man or woman who have a craving for illicit sexual fulfillment. One is not necessarily worse than the other, but the end is the same. Unless the person repents, they will perish. For God doesn't show favoritism.

The nice thing about all of this is, we don't have to live like that anymore. Jesus paid our fine; served our time, for the crimes against God that we've committed. All we need do is to turn from our sin, our former lives, and receive Jesus into our lives and follow Him. Then, we put on His righteousness. It's a precious gift!

God created us, in that oyu are correct. But God has never, and will never create any person homosexual. It is nto a natural thing that comes when you are born. It is a concious choice that a person makes. A choice that scripture strongly teaches against. I love every homosexual person on Earth. They are all people and I strive to hate no person. The thing that I hate is the sin that they are living in. I will in no way condone that sin. God is the same way. He loves the entire world, but he hates the sins of the world. All sins are hated equally, but it is the sin He hates. God creting us and homosexuality have no realy link. God creates the person and the person conciously chooses to go against the laws of God and be homosexual, it is that simple. Any homosexual still living in that sin is on a fast track to Hell. If they are "saved" or "Christian" and still living in that sin, then I would question their salvation based on the fruits that they bear from their sinful life. I am in no place to say if a person is saved or not, but I would strongly question a person's salvation that was living that way, even after being confronted with it.

God created us, and when we have sex before marriage that is a sin as well, why is homosexuality seen any differently. We are to love those with sin, and show them God's love....So when you say you have no problem with homosexuals that is good, but their choice in lifestyles is a sin, because the bible says so, but that doesnt mean we cant love the person that they are. The sin in ones life is caused by the devil, and we should hate the devil for that sin not the person! All sin is caused by the devil, who has no part of God, and that is your answer

Because it says so in the Bible. If man wwas meant to be homosexual, then the propogation of our species could be done through homosexuality. It can't. therefore, God never wanted us to be gay.

Homosexuals are loved by God, but the act of homosexuality is an abomination. I say this because some nutjobs beat up gay people, claiming to do the work of God. You should love the sinner, but hate the sin.

God created us but there is no empirical evidence that people are born gay. Geneticists have struggled for over 10 years to try to prove Dean Hamer's theory that he first announced in 1993 to no avail. There are mental health professionals who believe that homosexuality is ingrained, but so are mental illnesses like alcoholism and schizophrenia. I'm not explicitly placing homosexuality in that category, but psychologists & psychiatrists are the only people in medicine who agree that homosexuality is inborn.
So your assumption is invalid – there is no proof that people are born homosexual.

Using your argument, why does God allow crack babies to be born? Why does God allow cripples and epileptics and Downs Syndrome babies to be born? Why do babies die of SIDS?

The answer is we are not intelligent enough to understand why. Our nature tells us to search and in searching the answer is revealed when we are ready to learn. But until then all we can do is realize that there are things we will never know. And that if God is God, He set the whole big picture in pace & He knows exactly what He's doing.

UPDATE:
I understand your view but here's the issue:

" BULLCHEESE.. Honestly I think they are born that way."

You "think" - that's fine, doctor, but where is your evidence? The clinical evidence does not match your statement and your opinion holds no sway with fact. BTW - I assume you're not a doctor. Neither am I but I have examined the facts. You can choose not to believe but they're facts & not opinions. That's like saying I choose not to believe that 2+2=4. It's your prerogative, but...

Regardless of whether God created us or not, murder, rape, theft, vandalism, arson, kidnapping, extortion, child abuse, harrassment (both of the sexual flavor and not), assault, battery, forgery, adultery, necrophilia, beastiality and NECRO bestiality are sins. God has nothing to do with it. Maybe being gay is a sin because it states that one doesn't need one particular gender to th represented in the most-intimate type of relationship one can have (thereby showing disrespect for the other gender), because a gay relationship can be consummated only by use of either the mouth or the anus, which, like Robin WIlliams's use of his finger to drink water on the 1970's television sitcom MORK & MINDY was an aggregious misuse of a body part & therefore sinful and because in a very intrinsic and fundamental way gay relationships are a form of romantic and sexual relationship that are very fundamentally incompatible with procreation, which is the basic & fundamental purpose of having a libido.

Simply being homosexual is not a natural state and God does everything out of purpose and so he intended that the man leaves his parents and be married to a wife to be united as one as they no longer two but one and out of this unity or love, the new offsprings are created by God's miracluous hands. so the intention was for a man and a woman to be united through God to become one, complete each other, love each other. When people defied God, they became enslaved in their sin and this didn't happen only these days but long ago even at the time of Noah and at the time of Sodom and Gomorah. God's creation is pure and marriage has a pure intention. Being homesexual defies the natural rule that God created for us humans. Those who indulge in lust and sin eventually will come to realize that the 'natural' is not enough and out of disobedience, lust , being attached to the materialistic world, they forget their creator, His rules, and go after their at times beyond animalistic desires. Some animals by nature are even faithful to the natural law than humans. Some animals don't even engage in reproduction after their mate dies... that at the level of animals and we that were created at the image and likeness of God don't even measure up to the level of these animals... God's creation is one thing and Homesexuality is another thing.... sin is to contradict God's intention, rules that he put to protect his people and turn people to Him so they may be saved AND lastly the easier and wider the door in this life the more you know that it leads to destruction, narrow is the door to salvation and few that can find it. The door of course means the way that each one of us behaves in this life. Whether towards making his/her life more pleasant or sacrifcing as for other and loving others which is not easy to do and therefore it is the narrow door .

Hope that helps.

We are all sexual beings, capable of being attracted to anyone and everyone. I believe that most people who are gay were born that way. I am bisexual, and remember having "intimate" dreams about girls way before I even knew anything about being gay or having sex.

I am an agnostic, so my opinion on God may seem rather skewed, but my basic beliefs are that there is a higher power that helped start our evolution from single celled organisms, call it God, call it Buddah, call it Allah, I really don't care, but I have a hard time believing that there ISN'T a highly powerful spiritual energy source involved in our lives.

HOWEVER, the bible, as well as modern christianity and, frankly, most organized religions, are FULL OF CRAP. Concentrating specifically on The Christian Bible, these verses were written by MAN. Even if it is true that they were "receiving messages from God", there is a huge chance that they screwed up on the translation. I don't believe that a God that created all people IN HIS OWN IMAGE (according to said bible) would single out a group of people based on something as asenine as sexual preferance as sinners. I am pretty sure that the people that wrote the bible were just scared of the concept, because it was different, and figured, while we have everyone's attention, lets throw in a few things that are just "for us". Xenophobia is not a new phenomenom!

conclusion: a god that created us in his own image would no sooner cast gays aside as sinners than cast aside a specific race. i believe that whatever power created us created us to be different from one another. this includes differences such as race, religions, ethnicity, and, yes, sexual orientation. this world would lack meaning and life if it wasn't for our differences. We should all celebrate diversity and be glad for it!
