You can go through any recruiter. A Meps site is where they start to in-process you and you usually go to the closest one to your home.

Mark W is partially right...guarenteed jobs are not just handed out, you have to ask, and ask and ask for it, if you are diligent and don't give up they will eventually give it to you, my husband got one! You have to let them know that you know they do sometimes give them out, and you expect to get one, be a jerk if you have to, its' the realization that they are going to try and screw you into an open general and this is your life for at least 4 years, do something you'll like, it could be the difference between sleeping in a tent in Iraq or a trailer or bunk house! You can go thru any recruiter for the branch you want to join, and they have specific MEPS sites for that, but lets say you want to go AF like my hubby, we lived in a populated area so there are a few different recruiters in our area, if hubby didn't like recruiter A he could go over and see recruiter B and essentially have the same timeline, and same MEPS site to go to,
hope that helps!

You have to go through a recruiter for the branch you wish to enlist into at the MEPS. The MEPS will not process you without a recruiter.

Do not expect to have a job guarantee in your contract if you process for the Air Force, Marines or Coast Guard. th emajority of them enlist open contract, it is just expected of you to follow suit. 87% of Navy enlistees get a guaranteed job or field and the Army guarantees everyone the job, in writing BEFORE enlisting. Army recruiters now have FSR2S, where if you qualify, they can show you the jobs before you go to MEPS, even reserve one before you take the physical. No other branch will do that.

Know what you want, before you go.

Note: RockandRoll58-79 must have enlisted in 1962. We haven't done it that way in a really long time.

You have to go the nearest induction point and from there, you will taken to a inprocessing center for aptitude test and medical exams, from there, once you have passed all of your tests, you will be taken to whatever basic training facilities that the military
has for you.
