my guy came back alive and for that i am thankful. he is set to redeploy again. they planted trees on his base for the fallen soldiers from their platoon and it was sad to see the kids out there not wanting to leave those trees because they wanted to be with their parents. my guy cried like a baby. yes it is time to pull out and bring them home, for moral reasons not for political.

thank you SGT K. You have my vote.
What about Middletown, NJ. They lost 36 people in one day. Husbands, wives. Some children watched their parents die, on the ground and via TV. I will never forget hearing that little 4 year old girl's voice as she held her teacher's hand and asked, "does this mean my Mommy & Daddy are hurt?" While she watched the WTC crash to the ground, blocks away at her Day Care Center. 9/11 was a bad day for them.
the fact your city has lost 15 is tragic. I also commend a city that has the values and caring, the patriotism and loyalty to send that many people into service. That is a community to be proud to be from, and live in, to raise children. Your hometown is truly a backbone of America.
Those that are in Iraq making a difference, do want to be there, many volunteer to go back, the injured want to return to their units there, rather than be home with their spouses and children. Lives are being saved, Iraqis feel safer, they have their freedom, they thank us servicemembers for being there, everyday. The "insurgents" (nice media name for Al-Qaeda) are predominantly not Iraqis. They are fighting a jihad (holy war) against us because America is a "Judeo-Christian" nation in their eyes, though we are not a religious based country (one of the few in the world). Until we are all dead, exterminated, they will continue to fight. They even offered to leave Iraq, and leave the Iraqis alone, if we just leave the country. They offered to let us fight on American soil. Of course, the media highlighted it, just as they skimmed over the facts that Russia admitted to removing the WMDs from Iraq, weeks before we invaded, to avoid international implications for selling them to Iraq during the UN embargo (just as Germany, France and China also sold military weaponry to Iraq during the embargo-and all voted against the invasion. If you can't put those two things together I understand why you believe everything the media tells you). Russia moved them, admittedly, to Syria and Iran. Senior Iraqi military advisors corraborated the fact after the Russians admitted to it.
One death is too many, but to have saved the lives of so many, it is a small price to pay. I have served, Active Duty, for almost 21 years, and am not retiring anytime soon. I believe in what we are doing that strongly.

I think 1 soldier is way too many. Our soldiers shouldn't have even gone in there. This war was pointless, there were no WMD found, and because of Bush we went in there fighting and destroying trying to find something that wasn't even there, and now we have to pick up the pieces that we broke going in there, and the Iraq's don't want us there, obviously. So common sense would say pull out and if the Iraq's want to destroy themselves and their country then let them that has nothing to do with us. So yes it is too many, it is 15 US soldiers too many! And they need to bring our guys home.

Yes 15 soldiers is too many but we are doing the right thing by staying in iraq. Do you want to bring our troops back home without getting the job done and then just wait till we get attacked again?

The reprocussions of leaving pre-maturely outweigh the beneifits. Imagine the insurgents like an insect infestation. If you don't completly eradicate it, then they'll come back. I think that it would be worse to take our troops home if it was all for nothing. Whats worse is that there will always be some radicals (if not in iraq, elsewhere) who advocate terrorism in hiding. They're waiting for us to give the news on mass media of a date for when we'll leave so that they can resume things back to normal the day after we go. Thats why we can never win this war on terror and thats why Bush will not pull out.

15 is too many. Heck, 1 is too many. But think back to the days of the Civil War. In the one day battle of Antietam there were over 3000 men dead from both sides and over 17,000 wounded from both sides. It was the bloodiest single day battle in American history. I am not trying to make this current war look small, because it's not, but we should be thankful that we are only losing a few a day, instead of a few thousand like the Union & Confederates did.

You people and your one to many's! Do you really think that this would all just go away if we got out now? What about the World Trade Center. I am talking about back in 1993. Man I am glad that Bill Clinton in all his sexapade driven wisdom did nothing back then. If he had they may have tried to blow it up again. Funny how you don't have any problem with his Bosnian War! No that's OK. I have a cousin fighting right now some where. We don't even know where he is, but I am glad to know that he is between us and them.

My little liberal troll - do you realize that during the PRACTICE (not the actual invasion) BUT THE PRACTICE for the landing on Normandy during WWII we lost almost 900 men in less than 24 hours.
During WWII, 55 million people died world wide.
This doesn't make it less of a tragedy when we lose 1 service member but it could be a hell of a lot less.
If we had no concern for civilians, we could turn the entire middle east into a parking lot in a week without losing a single member of our military. is that what you want.
You can't have it both ways troll.

How many casualties is too many to spread freedom? One? Fifteen? One hundred? One thousand?
How about 80,987??? That is how many casualties the US officially sustained during the Battle of the Bulge in World War II - a battle that lasted about 1 month.
What is freedom worth? Do we turn a blind eye because people who want to be free are not our neighbors? Do we cry, "Foul play!" because those dying ARE our neighbors?
Here's some news you might find hard to swallow. Every solider, sailor, airman and Marine in Iraq is there because they choose to be. Those who do not want to can get out when their contract expires. But retention is at an all time high - this means people are re-enlisting in record numbers. A significantly large percentage of our military members volunteer to GO BACK to Iraq.
Go to Walter Reed or the burn unit at Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio. Do you know what you will find? Hundreds of our bravest, our BEST citizens missing limbs and bearing burns that scar them for life. Ask all of them what their one wish is - MOST OF THEM will say they only want to get better so they can get back to their units in Iraq.
How do I know this? I volunteered to go to Iraq in October. I KNOW what it means to love my fellow citizens, my family, my country, my GOD more than myself. We fight over there so you don't have to over here. We don't want our children to wake up to another 9/11 one day with ten thousand or a hundred thousand or a million dead in American streets.
While every life is precious and every death is an irreplaceable loss to the United States, we volunteers of America's military think it is a NECESSARY cost to secure the safety of the United States.
Please take that into consideration before posting another question like this.

No. Because we lost more than 2,000 of America's servicemen and women. If we pull out, their deaths wouldn't be justified. I'd be a little pist if I died over there and they just pull out without finishing the mission.
