Why is it so hard for people on Yahoo! Answers to just give their opinion without trashing the opinions of others? Does it make them feel better about themselves or somehow justify their opinion?

It's so hard because there are many age ranges and people on here. Alot of times you just get 12 year olds. i wish they would make this an over 18 site.

Well there are lots of reason as to why it's hard for people to be nice, a lot of people are mean because they use this as a way of dealing with their pent up or re-directed anger. As for being nice in general the people that have the most difficulty are those who have had someone out there hurt their feelings after they did something nice....Everything is Cause and Effect

I ask myself that all the time. People are just too lazy to care about being nice anymore. I work in retail and 50% of the customers are jerks. For no reason. And here I am smiling and be nice even if they are rude. Gawd I don't know!

Cause sometimes, people take advangtage of your niceness...They see that you don't care to help em out or whatever, and then they try to walk all over you..That's why it sometimes pays to be a cold hard *****..Or just learn where to draw the line, that works too.
