If your country was very poor and you couldn't feed yourself and live a normal life? If you were making only $200 a month, which barely covered your rent and some food?
Would you stay there and live in poverty or go somewhere you wouldn't starve?

"Sealborders", I admire your idealism, which only proves you've never lived in the real world. Stop being silly, grow up.
The situation in a country doesn't depend on one person's will.
I've protested a million times in my country and nothing changed. Now get a life!

What do our poor do? They make the best of what they have-they don't run to Canada and demand health and food.
And we have some very poor here already---much more than the illegals and they were in line first. And they live on less. Trying visiting our slums for a day or two. They are people too with all kinds of reasons. And no their isn't a program for all. And some have no roof over there heads. They hopefully find some garbage can to eat out of each day. And many have no lights or gas or running water.
That list is in every city. Every hospital has someone who can not afford their medicine,
These poor wonder why you are letting more in when you can't take care of them.
And no it isn't a mater of just getting a job in the land of opportunity--they have many reasons.
Spend some time in our slums and tell them why others come first-they want to know. And add how you think they can all get help/ Because Social workers have been trying for years.
Rather the mean it or not--they are hurting the poor more.
Do you feed your poor neighbors dog and let yours starve?

It sounds as if you are talking about life on a native American reservation which is where I grew up. My people have been living in those kinds of economic conditions a long time and you dont hear us whining around about it. We just do the best we can with what we have and hang tough, because this is OUR country! We have always been here and we will always remain here. We know how to live without money, money cant buy happiness or heritage! We teach our children that education is the key to the world. We hold fast to our traditional ways and customs while remaining a soveriegn nation with existing treaty rights to bargain with the American federal government.
And if you belive that any of these things came free you are sadly mistaken, We fought and killed and died in order to be taken seriously by the U.S. government. That is what I would do. And if you have protested a million times in your own country, why dont you go back and protest a million and one times, maybe you gave up too soon.

Bunt - I don't blame you for wanting to be here. However, it isn't fair for people to come and make US pay for education and health care for THEIR families. Our schools really are failing, and that is not something a parent is going to turn a blind eye to because people in other countries want us to pay for their better life.

The fact is, from your situation I don't know that you are hurting us much. The problem is, there are so many illegals here, and our rules say once legal people can bring in their families, too. NO ONE has suggested changing that rule for illegals here currently.

I could draft a 'screened legal amnesty' bill that would make me happy if it did not contain family reunification rights, did not ALSO have a huge influx of increased legal immigration attached, and was contemperaneous with real border security, interior enforcement and dismantling of the current benefits for illegals that draw more here every year.

We are hurting. We can't just pay for the poor of the world without our country (or at least our middle class workers) becoming equally poor.

No one is putting together a thoughtful, policy driven approach. The Senate Bill gave everyone with an interest whatever they wanted to build consensus, and the numbers are unthinkable.

I think we need border security now, an interim 'enforcement policy' targeting the 'bad guys' in the interim while this is worked out, and a sensible plan.

However, without protections for our education system by limiting more coming in AFTER those here, I can't support amnesty.

Most of these people have never lived in the real world. American kids nowadays are educated by MTV,didn't you know ? Of course I would flee the poor country and go somewhere else to make a better future for me and my family. And for the people who are obsessed with Mexico, there are other coutries in this world,I don't think they taught that on MTV 101.

I think the real question should be... If your country can't support its people, why go to another country to send all their money back to the screwed up country that they came from? Why not stay in the country where you can find work, and become a permanant resident? Instaed of sending us further into debt, to raise people in another country..

I say.. If you feel you need to come to my country to support your family..cool. Bring your family and LIVE w/your family here legally. Don't send the $ back to the other country.

I would start a revolt against the leader of the country that is causing my family and I pain. I would not enter illegally into a foreign country and expect that government and its people to provide for me.
There are millions of people in the world starving. We cannot take care of them all. Mexicans are taking advantage, and I don't believe it will end well.

If you're talking about MEXICO,and i'm sure you are,Mexico is NOT a "poor country"!!! Mexico is rich in natural resources, and could be in tourism also! The government is CORRUPT,but the country is NOT poor. I would start a revolution and overthrow that corrupt government!!! I would FIGHT for my country!! I would not LEAVE my homeland without a fight!!!
I would NOT sneak into another country!!! I SURE wouldn't march in their streets, and DEMAND to be given the "rights" of a citizen!! I would NOT insult the other country by carrying a FOREIGN flag in their country!!!

Mexico is not poor. Why don't you try to change things over there instead of whining about the way we are here. Do you really think you will change anything?

Your tone suggests that you are the one who needs to grow up. I don't know why you guys pick on Sealrborders all the time.

I would go somewhere so I wouldn't starve. A place where there's a better opportunity to help myself and my family. I would not stay there and suffer. That would be settling. I would do something about it and if that meant going to another country. I would.

I'd go somewhere else, even if doing it illegally. But, I don't think I'd expect those people to embrace me, or even like me. Especially if the rest of my country was doing the same thing I was.
