I specifically bought an adapter that matches the voltage of my player, but all over the packaging says it's for digital cameras. Should I worry or will I be fine using it to charge my player?

Most power adapters are universal and come with equipment as a courtesy. It should not have adverse affect on your MP3 player at all. As long as the connection is the same...have at it! I charge my dust buster and MP3 player with the same power adapter.

It's important to make sure that the power adapter supplies the correct voltage AND the correct current - some adapters are "stronger" than others and if the device is really high-power, it could be a problem. However, an MP3 player is pretty low-power, and a digital cam can actually need a lot of power, so your adaptor should work OK.
