I should have been more specific. I mean in the UK, in High school?

Yep, mainly because most of the girls i see, aren't wearing a skirt (well they are but they're soooo high you can hardly tell) I think it would be better if they all wore trousers.

If you are asking should boys and girls both wear trousers or should girls wear skirts, I think they should all wear trousers. I don't really believe in uniforms but if you are going to have them they should be identical. Isn't that the point of having them? Some girls are not comfortable in skirts. I hated them when I was a kid.

I have not seen your question before, so am answering for the first time!

I have a son and a daughter. My daughter wears trousers in the winter and dresses in the summer. That way, she is warm in winter and cool in summer.

And my son (although he does not want to wear a dress!) thinks it is unfair - because he has to wear trousers which are hot! He says that it is one other thing where girls are better off than boys. Having said that, he thinks it would be wrong to make girls wear trousers just so that everyone can be uncomfortable in hot weather!

He also pointed out that female staff members should also have to wear trousers in the summer, if the children have to!

Most high schools allow the child to wear trousers or skirts, in the school's colour, (grey, black, navy). Some schools allow children to wear summer dresses or pinafores, however, this doesn't often occur in secondary school.

Ask at your local department store, like John Lewis, what are parents buying for the kids in your school.

I think they should have a choice of pants and shorts for the different seasons. I don't like the skirts that they have because they can be too short. I live in GA and have 4 kids, 2 of each, and I have heard talk of uniforms for the public schools, which I agree with, but I don't want just the pants. I want the shorts too. It gets hot here and I don't think its fair that girls get a choice of skirts and pants, but the boys have only pants.

Kids should all wear trousers, both boys and girls. Uniformity in dress focuses attention on education not fashion leaders.Schools that have dress codes, Catholic schools for example have higher educational attainment than public schools that let their kids dress like slobs.

No because school uniforms take away all freedom of speech kids and teenagers have to express themselves. I'm not saying kids and teenagers should be able to wear whatever they want but that they should be able to choose what they want to wear within the dress code of the school.

No. My opinion is that the girl's should be given the option to wear a skirt or trousers, but trousers should not be manditory.

I tend to think uniforms are a good idea. I fail to see where it kills creativity. Rather, it just makes for fewer things that kids (and parents) have to worry about. (No stressing over fashion.) Also, fewer things that those at the bottom of the social ladder have to worry about being teased about. Creativity? A wonderful thing That's why there's art class, creative writing, music, etc.

Why? If you child has a uniform code then I think the school should decide if there our problems with girls wearing skirts and the school thinks there our problem then they should change it

It should be optional for girls.

My daughter was forced to wear skirts no matter what the weather was like, I sent her to school in trousers one really bad snowy day and they sent her home. Madness!!
