How could anyone know? That is a key indicator that the bible is BS. None of the people that made Christianity know about neanderthal etc. Now these flaws are being shown. If the bible says there were no neanderthals, then it is wrong, if it says there was, then is acknowledges evolution.

Actually if you look at what was created in the bible, it does not match the geologic evidence that we have today. How could birds be created before the dinosaurs etc. There is much in the geologic time peroid that we don't fully understand because the evidenciary links are not there yet. Remember, the bible is a story. The first 5 books were written 500+ years after the Isrealites left Egypt. Passing things down by voice over that period of time would definately change things (if you want to see this in effect, get a group of 20+ people and start with one and have them repeat a sentence to each person and see what happens when it gets to the last person, the original sentence will be totally different). Its amazing how people take things to be absolute when it was written years after the fact. I wonder what would happen if we took history today and waited 500 years to write it down, what would it look like?

Dinosaurs fit in with the creation of beasts and animals, but were destroyed so that homosapiens could survive. It doesn't say that in the Bible, but you kind of have to read between the lines. And I believe homosapiens were created in God's image. That is if we are still in fact homosapiens. Otherwise, there has to be a clan of neanderthals living somewhere.

Good questions! I don't have an answer for you, only more ideas to ponder. Maybe it's that at the time the bible was written they didn't know anything about dinosaurs or neandrethals- there really weren't archaeologists back then digging up the past. But, the bible is written in a way that many different religions can take out of it and translate it into just about anything they want. I don't like the bible because of that- it can be taken in too many ways because it's so vague. Just find your own path and believe what you want.

What difference does it make really? Either evolution or creation take extreme leaps of faith to subscribe to. Neither can or ever will be incontrovertibly proven as absolute fact. That IS a fact! So, without faith neither mean anything. Which would you rather believe in? That there is a God and He created us, each having a purpose and meaning to our lives, or that we came from monkeys, goldfish or aliens. Which one gives you hope and security and, ultimately, peace.

I know that I struggled with this same question for years and I finally resigned to the answer that made most sense and has more truth to it and less spin. I believe we came from God's hand and nowhere else. I am not denying science but I just have a hard time buying into a theory made by other flawed men. My advice in seeking a solution is to go with your gut .

You know, maybe if we found a neanderthal's bible, we would have an answer as to who was made in God's image. We don't, though, so why not go with what we have and make life easier for yourself.

Actually, the story of creation in Genesis was written hundreds of years after most of the subsequent books of the Old Testament. The scholars got together and said, "hey, we need an intro to this book! Let's make it about how the world was created and make it really dramatic to show how powerful Yahweh is!"

It's not like there was a historian there writing this all down as it was happening - it's just a myth.

Every major religion in the world has a version of how the world was created, and it was written to suit that religion's version of god, the universe, and the human role in it all. You'll notice that several religions that existed before the Hebrew religion (such as the ancient Greeks, the Babylonians, and the ancient Egyptians) also have a similar creation story, as well as a great flood story, and a "baby pulled from the river becomes king of the land" story. They are universal themes prevalent in every religion - stories designed to teach a lesson - hardly a lesson in history.

I dont know why there is such a hang up about Dinosaurs. Every single thing created was not listed in the Bible, so I think it is completley possible Dinosaurs walked the earth, either before man, or even with man. So they went extinct, big deal. Lots of animal are close to extinction, so in 1000 years will people say they never existed as they never saw them?

The bible never mentions dinosaurs one way or another, neither does creation. SO, as a believer, I think it completley possible dinosaurs were here, and even created by God.

At its highest, The Bible is the revealed word of God, intended to instruct and support mankind in a relationship with God. The Bible, therefore, is about God. It is not a complete document about all existence. God was and is perfectly happy with the contributions Sir Isaac Newton made about existence. Perhaps, He even intended these.

So ... dinosaurs don't repudiate The Bible. They don't need to fit in.

As for the Neanderthals, go read the story of Cain and Abel. After Cain slew his brother, he was cast out, and went to live "with other peoples". Just because God made Adam and Eve with His own hands, doesn't mean that other things weren't on the scene also ... and this little episode reveals that truth plainly.

I have often wondered about this and I don't know if anyone can answer this question but here is my opinion on the subject. In the Bible when God decided to created the heavens and the earth it states that the earth was null and void. The heavens and earth were created in six days and on the seventh God rested. We really don't know how long God's days are and maybe while God was creating and the earth was still null and void that was the time the dinosaurs existed. They were not here very long.

Evolution occurred basically between Chapters 2 and 3 in Genesis. Chapter 1 gives a daily account (and yeah, God created it all in 6 days, 24 hours each day) then Chapter 2 gives a sort of recap of what happened, in case you didn't get it the first time.

Then Chapter 3 begins with the serpent having that famous talk with Eve. The King James version says "Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast..." so you tell me, how long is it from day 7 to "now"? What time period occurred between the 7th day of rest and that famous conversation? a week? 7 years? a few million years?

Think about it, God made "man", Adam, in His image, a part of that image including words like eternal, timeless, ageless, so wasn't Adam at that time ageless as well?

Secondly, why did God build a garden with walls when the whole world should have been one big ole garden back then? Who was He protecting and what was He protecting them from?

Third, we all know that the serpent lied to Eve when he said "surely you will not die, you will become like gods and have the knowledge of good and evil" ... yet, she did not keel over when she took a bite. Rather, they both lived to ripe old ages with lots of kids and such. No, I think, and this is my opinion, that she began to die at that moment, she was made into a mortal person when she bit into the fruit.

And it is my theory that she was millions of years old when she did it (but probably still had the body of a teenager lol). During that millenium prior to mans downfall was the evolution we all know about, occuring all around the garden of Eden.

God created the dinosaurs along with all the other animals and as long as the Garden of Eden was a desirable place then there was harmony - we do not know how long Adam and Eve were able to live in the Garden of Eden before the tempter came, but until that time there was no need for carnivorous ways and means.
