I am a massage therapist and feel that both are present. Where there is no lust, there is no perversion. Where there is no perversion, there is Love. FYI, I know nuns and nurses who practice this, so please no "devil makes you do it." Peace and Love

I looked into this and thought of pursuing it, but in our area, people unfortunately still associate it with solicitation. (Massage parlors). I would get pretty freaked out if someone misunderstood. (And my husband would get pretty freaked out if someone misunderstood!)

I think there are amazing health benefits with massage therapy. I don't know about spiritual benefits.

I am the sort of person that people tell their life stories to in the grocery store. Often waitresses sit at our table and tell me all about themselves. I think part of it is because I am open, but I also think people are pretty starved for attention. We, as a culture, don't really look each other in the eye anymore. I make a habit to look people in the eye. I think for some people, I'm the first one to make eye contact with them in a while, and they end up telling me everything they have pent up.

Because I am open, and apparently approachable, I think I might have that boundary issue. I am concerned that touch - even without lust or the intention to arouse - would be misunderstood by someone who had been neglected or someone with an addictive/obsessive personality. How do you avoid that? Even if they taught me how to have really good boundaries and deal with inappropriate reactions, I would just feel horrible for someone who misunderstood. They would still experience it as a rejection.

What spiritual benefits have you seen, and how do you gently deal with people who have boundary issues?

Spiritual Healing has recorded many wonderful healings. So also has Massage Therapy. What is it you are questioning? They are valid methods to use when you feel it is important to take charge of your own health.

diverse situations require kinds of rub down. discomfort and injuries require a extra healing rub down. once you're below pressure, grieving or emotional misery, so said as 'pampering' may be needed - besides the actual incontrovertible reality that i extremely hate the be conscious pampering because it skill that each individual is helpless and needy a minimum of to me in any case. relax rub down isn't pampering - that is a need. Spa rub down isn't pampering - that is a need. they're needed for diverse motives at diverse cases.
