Did you know that a so-called "anchor baby" cannot help their parents get papers until they (the baby) are 18 years old. So many people seem angry about that law, but it is not like BAM! they are citizens now that they had a baby here.

being here ilegally is not a felony. That is what the protestors were marching about, they dont want it to become one.

No one allows the illegal parents of american citizens to stay in the US, they could just as easily be deported.

hadenough, I know a couple that had a kid here, the baby being American did not help them become citizens. They have since returned to Mexico and are raising their American son there. He will not even know English. They may apply when he is 18. But he could still be president, think about it!

If you think about it,we are all "anchor babies".They are no different than us,their parents just had to make a hard decision about coming and being here illegally.

I think they do it on purpose to game our laws. I think only people born here who ALSO have one unconditional permanent resident parent or citizen parent should be allowed to bring in other family, even at 18.
That wouldn't require a constitutional amendment, either.
People come to border town hospitals pregnant and sit in the parking lot until they go in labor, knowing that if they enter the hospital in labor they can't be turned out until the baby is born, and an American citizen. Also, the hospital will have to pick up the cost if they can't pay, whereas if they went to the town they slept in the night before in Mexico, they wouldn't get free health care. That is just ludicrous, and drains funds we really need ourselves.
If there weren't so many of them that they were really hurting our own people it would be different. We gave amnesty before when it was a smaller number.
People say 'well we could deport them if it weren't 12 million but now it's impossible", but it is the huge number that creates the huge impacts.

The reason ILLEGALS have their "anchor babies" in the U.S., is because the kid is automatically a citizen, with all the rights of a citizen!! The ILLEGAL parents are allowed to STAY,to raise the kid! Thes illegals know OUR laws better than most citizens do!!! They USE this law,to get to STAY here in the country!

So what? Does that mean that they should be made citizens without waiting? No. My friend married a Canadian girl. It took her about a year and a half to become a Citizen. It wasnt fast, but it wasnt real long either. But they followed the process and did it the right way- why cant everyone else do the same thing?

To me the issue is that these people are breaking the law, period. I for one don't want a bunch of felons as new citizens of this country. I don't feel sorry for these people who don't want to assimilate or do things legally. Send 'em all back where they came from with those babies. Better yet, make sure they can't have any more babies my tax dollars have to support.

that is so wrong. you should not be allowed to become a citizen just because you can have sex. that means they don't pay taxes, health care or anything else for 18 years. all illegals should be deported, or jailed. executed might be going too far but i would support it if it came up for a vote.

Yeah, but the US is not going to deport the parents, because it would cause extreme hardship for the child. So pull your head out of your.... never mind, I can see it is permanently stuck there.
Lets see PANCHA... I thought about it, nope, I am not an anchor baby. Your rhetoric is old and hollow.

Unless you marry a US citizen, you cannot be a citizen! But what if you are not inlove with a dumb American? Then you have no chance!

First off, they aren't legal citizens to begin with.
Thing is, they aren't connsidered adults until 18...some states 19.
