I'm just thinking back to when I was your age and I was your lover's age and there was a big difference - and I'm a guy! I've always dated women much older than me since I was a teenager, but I don't think they would have been interested in me as a 15-year old. That's just a year removed from 14, and that seems like a really young number. I guess what I mean is that, unless your lover is singularly precocious, I don't really know what you and she would have to talk about or be interested in together besides... And then there's the whole lesbian thing, which she might just be dealing with and might not be up for someone who might be more confident in what she's all about sexually. So, no, that would have been a little weird for me at your age. Good luck and be careful. Broken hearts are no fun when you're a teenager.

I'll put it like this, if you had a daughter that was 16 would you want her with a 22 year old. I doubt it. She's 16 youre 22 thats illeagle any way you look at it. There are plenty of Lez women out there you can find to satisfy you, just bump up that age a lil bit to what 18 still young still gullible and controlable. Thats what I'd do.

Age difference is always a creative element in a relationship. It usually establishes also the pattern between a more active and a more passive partner in the relationship. That goes for same-sex relationships as well as for hetereosexual ones.
Five years is not a bad age gap. You are still quite close, but with the sparkle of a difference. But in general age is only a number and a state of mind. If two people love and understand each other, age or age difference is of no importance. (My current partner is less than half my age and we are both very happy.)

Yes, the same age problems apply to all relationships regardless of sexual orientation. A 22 year old has done and experienced so much that a 16 year old has yet to experience in life. This is going to cause a lot of problems.

Well yes, its the same thing. Its not the gender that matters its the age difference. A 22 yr old girl should not be fooling around with a 16 yr old girl or guy.

Honestly, if you are questioning the ethical nature of dating a minor that in itself should be the only answer you need. You obviously have doubts about how legal or ethical this action would be. You don't need us to tell you. Does it qualify as stagatory rape? That is something you would need to research in your state. But how much of a relationship can it be with a 16 year old, are you looking for just sex or something long term? Either way, you are wrong for messing with a 16 yo girls head or you need to face the reality of how much growing this girl still has to do and how difficult it is to develop a long term relationship with someone who is basically still a child.

There may not be anything wrong with it as long as you have the same maturity level and you want the same things out of the relationship. However, legally if one of you is underage and you engage in sexually activities (even though it isn't intercourse) that can be considered rape. You just need to be careful about sex, but if you trust each other and both want the relationship then there shouldn't be problem in your being together.

Age can make a difference in any situation. It makes the most difference at the younger ages. It is simply yonger people do not have as much experience and they need some protection from being taken advantage of. Whether they are or not is another story

I think that anyone under the age of 18 should not be in a serious intimate relationship with anyone who is considerably older. It varies person to person though... some people just mature faster than others. I guess this is something that you'll just have to try and see how it works. It could be that once you get into things you'll find she's not quite mature enough as you'd like, and maybe she is? Trial and error are keys to finding the one you love.

Its easier and a lot more socially acceptable for the guy to be younger.

A 22 year old guy dating a 16 year old girl is going to be viewed as a sexual predator. And he probably is.

With a 22 year old woman and a 16 year old guy... it's still a little iffy... but guys pretty much know what they want... and if an older girl is willing to give it to them, that's fine with them. The 16 year old guy is just looking for sex anyway.... while the 16 year old girl is probably looking for love and emotional support, whether or not she's ready for a sexual relationship...

She'll give it to the older guy... because he'll know how to persuede her into it.
