You can have it on a Friday night in the off-peak wedding season. Depending on where you live, different months are considered off-peak, in NJ we got married in April, and that was considered off-peak.
You can have your reception and ceremony at the same place if you're not getting married at a church. I got married at a winery, we had our ceremony in their courtyard, so we saved money that way. You can serve vegetarian food (which can sometimes be cheaper) if you think your guests will be ok with that. You can use a single dramatic flower, or candles instead of a bouquet. Borrow jewelry from family (that's your borrowed!) and cut the favors to something really small. (Most people toss them anyway!)
Elegance and chicness are all in your attitude. If you become a crazy bridezilla you'll just look silly. If you appear really joyful and gracious, people will remember you as an elegant bride.
Good luck, and enjoy your wedding! =D

One way to cut the costs of a wedding is to have the wedding and reception at a time where the reception will not have to be a full meal. Have the wedding at 1pm. you should be done before 2pm and the reception should start around 2:30pm. Light snacks are good. Along with the cake that will cut a good portin of costs out.

Elegant will not be having the reception at a pizza place, for lunch, or a BBQ. Elegant would be being minimalistic on decorations that no one will remember and spending the money on location and food & drink. Invite less people to be able to stay within the budget that you have and spend more per person. The wedding portion is for you. The reception is for you & your guests to celebrate.
Good luck to you!

IT CAN HAPPEN....
It can be low cost and nice if you can get family member to make the food and keep it Crook Pots. You can also save money by asking your mother or mother-in-law to make a bunch of cakes to serve to the guest, but for you, you could buy a small, but very pretty cake for show. You couls also save money by shapping for your dress at JcPenneys Outlet - - - > My aunt baught her dress for only 11 buck and it was a beautful wedding dress. Or you could even find a white prom dress and save money that way. I have also see on TLC the Wedding storie where the wedding planner shopped at the dollar store for candles, and fake flower. That saves money also. One of my friend who is planing her wedding right now baught all her flower fake at JoAnn Fabrics. She save a lot. I have also had friends that have thrown out the Cake idea all together and have had donuts or pies instead that was really cool and different. Another thing I have seen is where they have had a dessert bar instead of a cake. The dessert bar was full of cookies, brownies, candie, ect. You can have a cheap wedding and still have lots of fun. One last thing, i wanted to mention is... don't forget the kids try to have something fun for them also like, bubbles which can also be baught at a dollar store, maybe a spot in the reception for them to color--- > provide coloring books and crayns< ---- These are cheap to. Have fun, this should be fun for you. May God Bless you! GOOD LUCK!!!

I had a private wedding at a lake in a garden. It was free. My best friend got chairs for the family and decorated them with satin ivory cloths and put pink roses on everyones chair. We decorated the gazebo with two big bows. We came out of pocket 85.00 for all of that. Then my dad was a photographer, but what you can do is tell everyone to bring cameras and take 10 pictures and you can get the pictures from them and make a wedding scrapbook. Buy your flowers in bulk. Look up bulk flowers in the search engine.

This is what I'm gonna do for my wedding in October. It is gonna be outside at dusk in a gazebo on the lakeside. (Reserved the gazebo thru the park service at a rate of 100.00.) The only decorations will be some long white bows on the gazebo rails($25.00 for bows) at the entrance and then hundreds of white tea light candles (you can get bags of tea light candles from walmart for about $5.00 with 50 per bag) so candles will be about $50.00 The candles will sit on the rails, and on tables that we already have in varied heights and those will be covered in white material, as a back drop to us standing in the gazebo. I might carry a small bouquet of flowers(still undecided on that) but so far we are looking at about $200.00 total. We are not counting the clothes that we will wear, because we have decided to get something simple that can be worn again, and not just packed away and never seen again.
After the service, we will go to dinner with a few select friends so at the outside we are talking about $500.00 for everything.

people can dress nice or casual up to them....print your own invites you cn make them just as nice with modern day printers they have packs at most office stores that include velum as well as regular paper punch holes decorative hole pundchers can be purcased at hobby lobby and other craft stores and twine ribbon through....if you want to go with a fancy dress you will fork out some cash but my dress only cost me 20$ a nice white sun dress, made my bouquet myself from flowers at hobby lobby....and had a receptionat a pizza place....but even a nice dinner somewhere woudl be cheaper than renting a hall paying a caterer and it is more relaxed...i had no pre wedding stress...no bills afterward just a nice relaxing wedding why be stressed on what is supposed to be the happiest day of your life

My lady and I had an outdoor wedding in an Aspen glade it started with a three day fast and we had a sunrise sweat lodge ceremony where we purified ourselves and offered our inner most prayers and were gifted with visions and insights .... for music we had a drumming circle and together we designed a ritual where we started out dancing separately and slowly in our dance came together as one in the medicine wheel and then had a Medicine Elder (who was also a legally ordained minister) preform the ritual of marriage for us .... I created a new poem and my lady a song which contained our vows that we offered to each other. After wards we held a feast with all involved and exchanged gifts (giveaway). And then me and my new bride rode off on my Harley for a very hot and private honeymoon.

Great ideas! My wedding is going to be fun and cheap I promise you. I am going to a cute little chapel in the woods about 1 hour away in the morning. Then that night we are having a BBQ at our house. It is our second wedding for both.

You can do this. I just got married Saturday and I did my wedding by myself(all my family and wedding party lives in a different state). If you are crafty, I would suggest going to Hobby Lobby and getting all or most of your flowers, etc there. I would also check and see when they will be having all of the bridal decorations and flowers half off. I did all of the flowers for my wedding for under $120.00. I ordered my bridal gown on line at www.barbsbridal.bridals.net for under $500.00--and that includes shipping. Hobby Lobby also has bridal do-it yourself books that helped me alot. If you need more advice or help, please e-mail me and I will be happy to offer more suggestions and ideas!!
