Generally, I would give her a range of times..for example, I will call you after I get off work...like 5-7pm or something. I think it would be better for her to wait because I might be busy. It would not be unwelcome, of course, if she did call..but I wouldn't be able to talk.

For my gf and myself it doesn't matter. I call her when she is on her way to work just to say hi, while she tends to call me when she gets off of work since it takes her 10-15 minutes to get out of work and get to her car.

Hon, if I don't really appreaciate to have a girl, or if she is not really my type then i wouldn't call her for a while right?
if he didn't call you for a while then you call, check it out if he is planing to go out with you or something, then u know what to do :)
He really might be busy ok? :) in this case don't call him for few hours but every day
