My husband and I paid for our wedding ourselves. We spent a little over 3,000 for everything including dress, reception, cake, etc. However, we put a lot of legwork into it and made our own decorations, invitations, etc. There is a lot to be said for DIY weddings and keeping things fairly simple. Our 80 guests all said it was one of the prettiest weddings they had been too and complimented our work.

It completely depends on your area. Our wedding in a really expensive area was about $25,000 and we tried to keep it cheap! We even cut out a lot of major expenses like flower decorations in the church; floral arrangements are one of the big budget blowers. Oh, and we had about 150 guests.
