Of course it was Jesus on the cross. He was the intercessor and as to not see the innocent in pain, God turned his face away. That's when Jesus responded as such.
Historically, as well as Biblically, we KNOW that Christ was crucified. This is not debatable.

Well, if you believe the account in the Bible it *was* Jesus who said that.
That is when Jesus took the world's sins upon Him and God the Father turned his back on Him because at that moment He was carrying the world's sin.
I'm not sure what kind of answer you're looking for that won't involve "preacher mumbo-jumbo." You're asking a religious question. The answer will most likely have religious content.

Because at that time, the Father had to let the Son to die on the cross for our sake. So, in order for the Son of God to die, the Spirit of the Lord ascended to Heaven leaving the body behind. The Temple in Jerusalem was torn into two and the days were dark for 3 days after Jesus breathed His last.

There are two predominant theories as to why Jesus uttered "My God, my God, why haste thou forsaken me?" The first is that Jesus was trying to get those gathered at His crucifixion to understand that He was the Messiah. Psalm 22 is a completely Messianic prophecy, and He quoted from the first verse of Psalm 22 to help them "get it."
The second is that, as several have already said, Jesus was bearing the sin of the world on Him at that time, and that God will not abide sin in His presence. Because of the Jewish sacrificial system, when a sin offering was presented, the owner of the lamb would place his hands on the lamb's head, transferring his sin to the lamb. Then he would slaughter the lamb, and the shed blood would cover the sin. Thus, Jesus, as our sacrificial Lamb, carried our sin upon Himself.

The fact is God had to forsake Jesus when he took on the sins of the world. But you would have to be willing to understand why first before you could understand what Jesus said.
You are right about one thing, to you it is only mumbo-jumbo, for your eyes are closed and you refuse to open them.

God the Father turned his back to let Christ bear the burden of our sins and unbelief-so he could provide a way to show his great love for everyone-Christ did not have to die he choose to but can you imagine the grief pain and sorrow he felt in his human body! Whether you believe or not is your right -free will-but I assure you Jesus died and arose again and is alive! no mumbo-jumbo!

Because Christ took on the sins of the world. God is pure and holy so He could not look upon His son at that moment. I believe that after that, when Jesus died, He went down into Hell, rebuked Satan, and then ascended into Heaven to be with the Father and THEN God could look upon Him again because He had conquered death.

Jesus was teaching...
Jesus never called God "God". He always called him Father.
He was quoting Psalm 22.
Psalm 22 describes how Jesus was going to be crucified hundreds of years before the fact.
Psalm 22 describes how the Roman soldiers would gamble for his clothes...
It was Jesus, read Psalm 22.

Because of Adam. When he committed the first sin in Eden, he was perfect, so his sin was deliberate. Jesus was also perfect, but also had a special relationship with God, as He was God's son. At the time of His death, God temporarily suspended that special bond, so Jesus was in effect, just like Adam. Even without that bond, Jesus still did God's will, allowing God to prove to Satan that a perfect man could indeed obey God. Jesus could at that time have freed himself from His situation, but He did not. Adam brought sin and death to us, Jesus removed it from us.Romans 12:12 ,17:That is why, just as through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because they had all sinned—. For if by the trespass of the one [man] death ruled as king through that one, much more will those who receive the abundance of the undeserved kindness and of the free gift of righteousness rule as kings in life through the one [person], Jesus Christ.
