DO NOT HE WILL DIE OF HEAT STROKE!! you can keep him in a large and secure room in your hoouse that doesnt have many objects, then you can just keep some of his toys in there so he wont get bored. but eventually his toys wont be enuf, and he'll get bored. you can get another playful dog like him, so they can play while yo're at work so they dont get bored. if you have any other specific ques. about dogs in general

good luck!!!!!!!

I think that it is OK. Especially if there is a place in the shade and you give it some food and water. Remember they were once a wild animal (many 1000s of years ago) and like most wild animals they have strategies to survive the outdoors temperature and humidity. However if the newsman is saying that humans should stay in doors because of high heat factors, then it is important to not let your dog stay out all day either.

Saying that, some dogs that are use to cold environments will not do well in places that have long periods of heat, but most dogs breeds are very tolerant of heat.

Another issue though is a social one. Neighbors will not appreciate a noisy dog that is left home all day unattended. Also there is the factor of kids messing with the dog. These are just some things to consider.

Make sure that there is shade and plenty of water outside and use those pet safe insect sprays in the yard like once a month. That will get rid of any ticks. And make sure there are not overgrown bushes or weeds. A clean yard is easier to keep ticks out of. Dogs can handle the heat better than humans can. My dog is outside a lot (and she even has the option of staying in the house) And it stays over about 105 here everyday. Do not put him/her in a cage, that meaner than the heat. Dogs need to be able to roam around.

If possible, put in a concealed doggie door from the garage to the back yard (unless the dog is so big someone could easily break in that way) with water in the garage so it doesn't get hot, and start him out in the garage when you leave after a little practice going in and out while you are there. That would be the best balance between problems and harm to the dog.

It's ok as long as he has some shade and water. Lots of water. He'll be ok for short times out there. The garage gets hotter faster than outside does. It's almost like being in a car with the windows cracked. It shows more love this way. There's also drops to protect him from fleas and ticks. They're pretty cheap.

Being outside can be good for your dog, even when its hot, but you have to follow some basic rules. First, you need to make sure the yard is fenced and "dog-proofed" to make sure he can't escape, and there's nothing there that can hurt him (like insecticides). Next, make sure there's some shade: any place where he canget out of the sun for a while. Third, make sure there's plenty of water for him. You may even want to drop a few ice cubes in so it stays cool longer. Just like people, dogs get thirsty when they're hot. Lastly, make sure your yard is frequently mowed. Ticks don't like to live in low grass, and this will keep burs and foxtails out of his fur. Being outside provides fresh air and exercise for your dog. Just be a responsible pet owner and make sure his needs are provided for!

My dog is an outdoor dog (all of the time). We live in Houston, so it's hot here. As long as you give them plenty of water and shade they should be fine. You do have to treat with flea and tick medicine. And don't be surprised when your sweety digs up the yard (the dirt is cooler when freshly dug up). Also I have an outdoor fan, so there is a nice breeze on the covered porch.

put a doggy door from the garage to the backyard so he can choose were he wants to be during the day. also put a fan in the garage and keep his food and water in there. as for the tick issue i put flea and tick spray on my pup and she is fine. also use flea and tick shampoo on her/him. or you could buy those baby fence things and leave half the house for one dog and half for the other.
if you have a deck like i do put cedarchips under the deck and let him lay under there because it is cool and humid. the ceder chips also keep away bugs!

It isn't a good idea but if you have to make sure there is plenty of shade and water for it. Also have you considering setting up a wding pool for it so it can use that to cool off if it needs to. My dog loves the wading pool.

Only if it is a must and you have short haired dogs. Make sure they have a shaded area when the heat is too much and plenty of water. Dogs will also become unruly when left by themselves for too long so make sure you spend time with them when you do come home.

You can leave him indoors, just seperate the chihuahua and the poodle mix. You have more than one room, and atleast one that can be shut off from the rest of the house.
