I have sedated the patient, and am ready to begin the initial cut, but am not sure which side i need to go in on. Please help.

The right side. Put your hand on their waist, and curve it inward towards the belly. Where your middle finger ends, that's where it should be. Good luck (to the patient!)

If you are gonna take out someones appendix I'd hope you'd ask that question before you do the surgery not during it after you've cut them open!
