Why do you believe what you do?

Religion is very opinionated, and whether being a Mormon (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints member) is right or not can't be proved while on this earth until Jesus comes again. We believe what we believe because we have prayed and asked for guidance and a manifestation of the truth and we have felt warm, fuzzy feelings interpretated as the Holy Ghost, telling us that what we believe in is true.

Three main reasons.

First off, because when I prayed about it (I was an Evanglical Christian at the time) I received a very clear answer that the church was indeed the true church and its doctrines were correct. That spiritual witness has remained with me since. I'd tried many other churches before (Anglican, Baptist, Assemblies of God, Salvation Army and independent Evangelical) and never experienced anything like it. It is a very wonderful thing, and very definitely from God.

Second, however, I thought things through logically and thought about whether I really believed it, of myself. The premortal life is one thing I had to ask myself about. Did I really believe I lived with God before coming to Earth? Yes, I did. I also consiodered the anti-Mormon criticism, but felt that the church stood up to such things very well.

Thirdly, I embarked on a very extensive study of the scriptures. I was still attending an Evangelical house group/Bible study group at the time and was amazed at how often Bible verses came up which were clearly in support of the Mormon position, and my fellow Christians just looked confused an admitted they didn't understand that bit.

Finally I should add that most of what people think Mormons believe is not Mormon doctrine at all, so the chances are that I don't actually believe what you think I do. If your next question would be to ask why I believe God had sex with the virgin Mary, or that my husband is responsible for my salvation but won't raise me unless I have lots of children, then I would have to tell you that I don't believe those things; no Mormon does. If you want to know what we really believ, go to www.mormon.org.

Besides the testifing truth from the Holy Ghost, and many years of learning the LDS gospel.
The complete LDS gospel doctrine which involves family and unity is what help me get a clear view on life.
Its standards and requirement may sound strict to many, but it will help you be a better and nicer person.
LDS teachings show me a knowlegde of truth that others does not. LDS's logic and doctrine makes sense to me.
I have been a member for 30 years, and never regret it.

Many say we are cult, or we are weird or secretive, but
for those who understands, we are no weirer than our next door neighbor. And most of the bad things that said about LDS Mormons were false, because I am LDS, I know what I believe.
I was not suprise some people has the false info about LDS,
even Jesus Christ was misunderstood by many, but that does not make him a bad guy.

Because everyone has different beliefs!!! If you're a Christian, why do you believe all of that? Many people think it's impossble for someone to rise from the dead and live after being dead for three days. And most people don't believe that a human can do real MAGIC or whatever Jesus did.

I was raised by parents who were both members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, so I was exposed to the teachings of the church from a young age. As I grew and got older, I realized that I also believed that the teachings were true. I now have a testimony that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the true church and that its doctrines are correct. This has been confirmed to me many times by the Holy Ghost as I have shared these doctrines with others, studied them in the scriptures, and listened to others preach them.

I am interested to see what answers you have to this question. Hopefully people can avoid saying things like "Why are you picking on us" and have a mature conversation about their religious beliefs.
