Look neat and professional, meaning tie and jacket for a man and pantsuit or blouse and slacks for a woman even if they dress business casual in the office.
Be prepared to talk about yourself and your acomplishments.
Answer questions with some elaboration rather than short one sentence answers.
Be prepared with a calculator and pencil for further testing.
Know your resume and be prepared to answer questions on education, work history and what you can tell about yourself that is not written in the resume.
The adjuster position requires great communication skills written, face to face, and especially on the telephone. You will talk to a wide variety of people from the general public, other insurance company reps, doctors, lawyers, auto body shops, rental car companies, accident reconstruction...
It requires great organizational skills in prioritizing and reprioritizing, compassion, and a great deal of patience and self confidence.
Don't be wishy-washy and stick to your deadlines and you will find out this can be challenging and believe me never boring!
Good Luck from a 17 yr senior liability adjuster.

If this is an entry level outside adjuster position communication skills are important. You will be negotiating claims face to face with claimants in negative situations. During your interview the insurance company will take notice on how well you handle yourself verbally and may ask you to write a one or two page paper on the subject of your choice.

At a job interview you are basically selling yourself. Know the position your are interviewing for. Know what exactly an adjustor does, what duties you will be performing, your strengths and weaknesses as to why you would be the best person for the position. Godd Luck.

Know five adjectives to describe yourself. I interviewed for an adjustor's position 20 years ago, and the first thing the guy asked was, "Give me five adjectives to describe yourself". Took me what seemed like years to even think of what an adjective is, and then I couldn't think of 5. Oddly enough, I didn't get a second interview.

As much about the company you are interviewing with as possible and have a few questions for them and their policy of settling claims.
