This situation almost always ends in a bad way for somebody or both parties involved. Mixing romance with co-workers will affect both your work and love life. If your "passions" run out, so may the position so after. If it goes well, more power to ya, but that doesn't seem to be the case for most people. You may find out that you both gel well together, just take a very slow approach and discuss what plans you both may implement should the situation go sour. Also note: If you work with several other employees under the same boss, they may hold resentment if they find out about your relationship with the big boss. If you two really know this is a sure thing, consider finding another job and keep the relationship. This may work in your benefit should you start to get sick of being around each other 24/7 (which can happen if you move in together AND work in the same place).

I'm a visual person. I suppose these are all a bit slutty but the important thing is that he notices you desire him and other people don't. So here are my Top Ten Ways to...
10. Give him a polaroid of yourself topless.
9. Ask him to lunch with you.
8. Tell his friend, colleague, wife etc. that you would like to go to bed with him.
7. Ask him about lingerie.
6. Ask him to get you Shalimar by Guerlain on his way through the airport. Wear it.
5. Give him a Valentine card out of season.
4. Go on a business trip together and get a spare key to your room. Present him with the key.
3. Ask him to scratch an itch that you can't reach at the back of your thigh.
2. Wear a business suit with a short skirt and real stockings. Sit carelessly (but not so carelessly that he doesn't see anything.)
and lastly...
1. Tell him you want an affaire with him.

Hmmm. Have you thought about the work-related repurcussions if you two get together, but have fights, or even break up? If could affect work performance and/or evaluations.
If your company has a policy about workplace romance, don't count on your boss to respond to any advances. If you really like him, find another job so he isn't your boss, then let him know how you feel after you leave.

WHY SHOULD YOU LET SOMEBODY TELL YOU YOU CANNOT HAVE A ROMANTIC AFFAIR WITH A PERSON FROM YR WORK?
I don't think anybody should have the right to tell others where and who to love.
not even legally. YOUR HEART IS YOURS not the laws or the goverments or the work. Yes I know that for the most part any of thse dont care about you at all, they are in it for money, not watch you for who you love. However if there are rules just walk around them at work.
BUSINESS CHEAT ALL TH E TIME AND MANY JUST HIDE IT. So why should you skip an opportunity to love and maybe even get something really rewarding like a permanent relation with someone you love at work?
I've had many friends whose husbands were found at work. They worked together or in same offices. Granted its not in USA I am talking about, nevertheless I think USA 's laws have gone too far and there is no freedom anymore for anything. YOu cannot literally do anything because you are bound by all kinds of rules and laws designed NOT TO HELP YOU but to make money out of you.
I would let yr boss know in a very different approach.
Did you ever see the movie "The English Patient" with Juliette Binoche a French Actress that is really cute and is a nurse in the middle of the war she has to take a patient to an empty castle to care for him while the rest of her crew leaves elsewehre. There is an Indian man who falls in love with her and does something that I recommend you do:
In order to show yr boss you are more than interested, do it in a very romantic fashion and gentle sweet detail like. Wait till everybody is gone from the office and leave a note for him to definetely pick up and read "I need some help, can you see me at 8pm in the meeting room?
but do it right before he leaves and when nobody is there, light up tea lights lining up a road that leads from his office door to whre you will be waiting. MAKE SURE YOU LIGHT THE CANDLES ON THE FLOOR AND NOWHERE NEAR PAPER, if this doesnt work out in the office you think, do it at a park and ask him to meet you somewhere where you can do this.
Start the trail of lit tea light from the parking lot and into the spot where you will be located. Waiting there in a sweet outfit and a card a beautiful card. When you see him get close dont panick, wait till he is next to you and asks "whats this?"
then give him the card and write honest feelings in it and let him read it.
Then tell him "I really want you to know that I care fo ryou and would like to see if you would actually go out with me or whatever you think is fit" I didnt want to make you uncomfortable at work so I waited till now. "I LIKE YOU SO MUCH , MY HEART POUNDS FAST WHEN I SEE YOU".
tHEN LET THE ACTIONS DROP ON HIS SIDE WHRE THEY MAY.
Good luck.
In the movie i talked about the man lit the row of tea lights leading from one door of the mansion to the inside of a beautiful Capilla, or chapel that was empty and he had Juliette swing from a rope and rise her to the top to see Frescos all over the walls of the dark chapel lit only by candle light.
IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL ACTION FULL OF LOVE FOR HER.
WHY NOT DO THE SAME, SHOW HIM YOU CARE IN A BEAUTIFUL ACTION.

Its a hard Q to answer office romance in my view should be avoided maybe you should invite him out to lunch, to celbrate an occasion with you try to take it slow showing him that you care about him when he looks upset try to approch him and comfort him maybe over time he would ask you out.
If you two are already close you could tell him how you feel.
GoodLuck hope i helped in some way whish you the best.

If you are interested in short time flirt. You can do this with any one, not only with your boss. You can remain professional when you are in your seat. If you boss has a private room, drag him and tell him you are interested and hug him to show that you want him to do the same. At the same time, be prepared for the consequences.

I did this about 15 years ago and it was the fastest way I could think of to end up in the unemployment line. Have you ever heard the old expression you don't sh*t where you eat? This is what they are referring to. When it all comes down and someone finds out you'll be the one walking....He'll swear it wasn't him that started it. Good luck to you but its nothing but trouble!

I think dating your boss is very risky, limeyheart. How much do you like your job? Because if you're serious about dating him, you should get another job, then ask him out. But if you don't want to leave the job you have, then don't risk it by dating him.
